The University of Leipzig is one of the most prestigious state universities in Germany and is ranked 283th in the world ranking of universities. It is believed that art, the humanities, the natural sciences, and medicine are best taught at the school.

Both local residents and a large number of foreigners study at the university. The teaching staff includes 1,100 qualified specialists.

The University of Leipzig is divided into many buildings, research centers and libraries throughout the city. Most of the buildings in which they are located were built in the 20th century.

The university participates in the ERASMUS program and therefore students have the opportunity to go to study under the student exchange program. The leadership of the university has signed over 300 agreements with universities around the world.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students have the opportunity to live in one of the 5 hostels owned by the university, however, you must pre-apply for a room in one of them, as there are many people who want to get housing. The cost of living in a dorm room is 160-240 € per month.

Another option for living in Leipzig is to rent your own housing - an apartment or apartments. The cost of housing will be 200-400 € per month, but it should be borne in mind that in most cases the student will have to buy their own furniture (housing often rents out almost empty).

Facilities and equipment at University of Leipzig

The university has its own library and computer center, and wireless Internet is available in all buildings. All classrooms for classes have modern equipment, computers, projectors - everything that is necessary for a comfortable learning process.

Admission dates and extra charges

The academic year at the university is divided into 2 semesters. You can start your studies in October and in March.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

For Russian students, for admission to the undergraduate program, it is necessary to go through the preparatory year at the Studienkolleg (analogous to preparatory courses), which replaces grades 12–13 at the school. Depending on the chosen faculty, students study several necessary subjects.

After successful completion, students can enter the 1st year of the university.

To register with Studiencolleg, students must have an invitation from the university, a certificate confirming knowledge of the German language at a level no lower than B1, a certificate of secondary education, and successfully pass the entrance exams.

For admission to the magistracy, applicants must provide a diploma of higher education and a certificate confirming knowledge of the German language not lower than B2-C1.
