Description of University of Hertfordshire Summer Camp

  • Location: Hatfield, England
  • Age of pupils: 10-17 years
  • Total number of children in the camp: 250
  • Language of instruction: English.

Hatfield summer camp is located on the grounds of the University of Hertfordshire. The over 500-acre campus near the historic city is the perfect choice for students who want to learn English on campus and explore London.

Hatfield is a small town that occupies a significant place in the history of England. Hatfield House with 400 years of history, the home of the Earl of Salisbury and the house where Queen Elizabeth I spent her childhood are a stone's throw from campus. The ancient city of St. Alban is also nearby, and for Harry Potter fans, there is a tour of warner Bros.

Children aged 10-17 years are admitted to the camp, but those under 12 years old are assigned a curator responsible for the safety of the student around the clock.

Before arrival, all children take a test of knowledge of English to determine its level. In addition to classic and premium programs, Hatfield offers Young Manager, an academic language according to IELTS standards. At the end of each course, graduates are issued certificates.

Accommodation, meals, prices

In the residential building there are apartments for 6-8 people, each of which has a private room. Students are provided with bed linen, towels with a weekly change.

All apartments have a furnished kitchen, a common room, an office with a library.


  • Laundry in each residential block
  • Rooms are cleaned once a week, common areas are cleaned daily.

Host families live 35 minutes from the camp campus. Those who choose homestay are issued 7-day travel tickets.

Activities University of Hertfordshire Summer Camp

On the territory of the camp are regularly held sports classes in football, tennis, volleyball, softball.

The course is designed according to the standards of the IELTS exam. Passing the education, students prepare to pass the internationally recognized test to confirm knowledge of the English language, develop speech, hearing, increase vocabulary.


  • Age: 14-17 years
  • Duration: 30 hours for 2 weeks
  • Minimum level of English: B1+
  • Grades: 12-20 students
  • Price per person: 50£ per week.

On the course, students will be able to learn about almost all aspects of work, business development, learn business writing, negotiation tactics. Practical lessons, lectures, project work, group discussions will be used in the education.

Facilities and equipment at University of Hertfordshire Summer Camp

The camp campus is located on the campus of the university with an area of 500 acres. The campus is equipped with:

  • On campus, students can only use one plug of the adapter to charge all gadgets.

Near Hatfield there are supermarkets, shopping malls, a cinema, a hospital and a medical center. The city centre is a 16-minute bus ride away and the airports are as follows:

  • London Heathrow – 60 minutes
  • London Luton – 30 minutes
  • Gatwick – 90 minutes.

The University of Hertfordshire provides buses to get around the city. The cost of each bus ticket varies depending on the destination.

Admission dates and extra charges

Shift start dates:

  • July 1 – 2-4 weeks
  • July 15 – 2-3 weeks
  • July 29 – 2 weeks.

Additional costs include:

  • Laundry: £3.20 per wash, £1.60 per drying
  • Refundable damage fee: £50
  • Extra meals – £8 per serving
  • Trinity exam – £80 per person, subject to a group of 30 students
  • Supplement for extra nights – 45-55£
  • Private tuition – from £70 per hour
  • Tickets in museums, galleries, buses, etc. – from £ 50 per group (if not included in the price).

Transfer is not included in the price of the program. The bus ride is calculated for a group of 4, 7, 14, 29, 45 people.
