The UK is increasing the minimum amount of funds that international students must have in their accounts to study here. The updated rules will come into force in January 2025.
The Home Office requirements apply to students from other countries who plan to study in London. Foreign applicants to London universities must now provide official evidence that they have at least £1483 per month in their bank accounts, that is, for a nine-month or longer study in London, foreign students need to have £13,348 , for living and studying in other cities in the UK - £1136 for a month. The government of the country takes care that both local and foreign students can cover their expenses while studying at local universities and do not find themselves in a difficult financial situation.
Another European state that has changed the financial requirements for students is Germany: the German government has also increased the amount of money that foreign students need for studying in the country: from September 1 this year, international students must have a minimum of €11,208 per year (or €934 per month) to obtain a student visa.
