The most expensive countries in the world to live in

The most expensive countries in the world to live in

We may think that citizens of countries that pay high salaries can afford absolutely everything and not live up to a salary. However, a high level of wages also means that prices in such a country are very high, for a comfortable life from your wallet you will have to lay out substantial amounts of money monthly. There are countries in the world where living is especially expensive for citizens, but they can afford it, because they earn much more than the average "earthling".

Bermuda

The economic performance of British ownership is growing at an enviable rate. The islands attract large foreign investments, because the government here has built a loyal tax policy. The head offices of large international companies are based in Bermuda, bringing a lot of money to the budget of the islands. The islands are also a popular tourist destination, and travelers leave their finances here. The average salary of bermuda residents is about $ 4500. However, prices are so high in the country that by the end of the month almost nothing remains of this amount.

For local residents, there is another tax system, which deprives citizens of a significant part of the money. There is no government insurance in Bermuda, so insurance companies sell policies at huge prices that are twice as high as American ones.

The soil of Bermuda is infertile, since the country is located in a mountainous area - most products and other goods the state is forced to import, which is why their prices are much higher than in other countries. And the cost of a small apartment for rent for a month is almost $ 3500 - citizens without their own real estate are forced to spend almost the entire salary on housing.

Travelers going to Bermuda will also have to take more money with them. The average cost of a hotel room for a day here costs $ 80-125, and lunch at a local cafe will cost about $ 35 per person.

Norway

Travelers call Norway one of the most expensive countries for vacation. To spend the night in a budget hostel, the guest of the country will have to pay 60 euros. If he wants to live in a hotel, the room rate will rise to 150 euros. A small lunch in a restaurant costs an average of 50-60 euros - if a traveler wants to add alcohol, he should be prepared to increase the price tag by 2-3 times.

However, the cost of popular services and goods in the country is only 4% higher than the world average. Norway has many natural resources that it extracts for export. Thanks to fishing, tourism and the sale of oil, Norwegians have a salary of $ 5400. Part of this money goes to pay taxes, but the locals have enough of this money, since they do not have a weakness for luxury and extravagance. Residents often go fishing or hunting, getting delicious food on their own and saving money on buying it.

Bahamas

The cost of living index in the Bahamas is almost 86% - prices here are slightly lower than the world average. Locals earn money in the tourism sector, which brings them about $ 3200 per month. However, the cost of services and some goods here is very high, since there is no industry in the country, and world celebrities fly to it on vacation.

All goods of the Bahamas are purchased from neighbors, which is why their price increases. Famous people have a lot of money and can afford to buy anything here that brings a lot of money to the budget, but ordinary tourists have difficulties, because they do not have an unlimited budget, and they have to save.

Luxembourg

Salaries in this tiny European country are among the highest in the world – $ 5800 per month. The developed economy and policies of the state have helped to reduce the income gap between the rich and the poor to only 20%: a poor citizen in the country is a citizen who has an income below $ 4,000 per month.

However, the country is included in the list of the most expensive places to live. Locals are very expensive housing, so they prefer to buy apartments and houses in France or Belgium, and go to work in Luxembourg. It is not long to go there, but the savings will be serious. Luxembourgers can easily buy goods or use services here, but for tourists local prices can be unbearable. The cost of hotels and excursions is the highest in Europe, so travelers prefer to come to Luxembourg out of season - this helps to save up to 30%.

Singapore

The city-state has a developed economy and gives residents the opportunity to earn $ 3,000-4,000 per month.  Singaporeans can easily live on such a salary, paying taxes and not saving on food. However, buying a car in Singapore is an impermissible luxury for most: due to high transport taxes on imports, the price of transport here is about 5 times higher than in Europe and America. A liter of gasoline in the city-state costs more than $ 2 - this cost is one of the highest on the planet. Since the country does not produce car parts, the maintenance and repair of transport also flies into a penny.

The country is popular with tourists, so local owners of restaurants and hotels increase the price tag several times from the usual base. Taxation concerns alcohol and cigarettes, so their cost is higher than the world average. The price of a ticket to amusement parks or excursions is also quite large, but tourists have to put up with it and fork out.

Cayman Islands

The territory of the islands belongs to Great Britain - a country in which prices are the same as in the rest of Europe. However, in the Cayman Islands, prices are significantly higher than in the rest of the country.

The average cost of goods and services on the islands is 42% higher than the global average. A family of two people living on the islands spends on essential goods and food from $ 2500 per month. 1500 $ goes to rent one-room housing, and the cost of buying 1 sq.m. Real estate here starts from $ 2500. Such prices are formed because of the small territory of the country, densely built up with hotels and inns.

However, locals do not complain about the high prices in the country. Almost 80% of the money in their budget comes from the tourism industry. The beaches on the islands are picturesque and clean. The Cayman Islands are recognized as one of the best places for water sports and diving. Also, local residents receive a lot of money from breeding turtles and working in the field of insurance. Citizens of the Caymans receive huge salaries that allow them to live comfortably even taking into account the high prices of food and housing - they can receive from 6 to 8 thousand dollars a month.
