The school developed gradually throughout the late 1980s and ‘90s, experiencing rapid growth at the turn of the 21st Century. It is situated in Anavargos Village, on the outskirts of Paphos. Our purpose-built campus was completed in 2006 and the boarding house opened its doors in September 2019.

The school follows the English National Curriculum which is enhanced with a wide range of extracurricular activities while being mindful of the local culture. The International School of Paphos is recognized both nationally and internationally. It is registered with and regularly inspected by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture. It is also an approved centre for two of the largest UK examination boards, CAIE (Cambridge Assessment International Education) and Edexcel / Pearson, as well as for the Ellinomatheia examinations (Greek language proficiency) from the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki, Greece. In addition to IGCSE and GCE qualifications, which reflect a globally established standard of education, the school’s graduates receive a School Leaving Certificate (Apolytirion) that is recognized in Cyprus, the United Kingdom, and across Europe.

The school is an Ambassador School of the European Parliament, as well as an ECO-School. It is also a centre for the European Computer Driving License (ECDL), recognized by the Cyprus Computer Society and CEPIS (Council of European Professional Informatics Societies), as well as for LAMDA (Drama and Public Speaking examinations). What advice would you give to future applicants before applying to schools and why?

Understand the school’s ethos and ensure it aligns with your goals. I would further advise students to prioritise their English language studies in preparation for the entrance testing phase.

When looking at applicants, we consider not only the academic record and entrance exam performance, but also students who not only excel academically but also demonstrate character and potential for growth.

This summer, a 12-year-old child was taken here to a day camp. I really liked the school itself and the program. The classes lasted a month, and the result is really noticeable. Usually, it is difficult to get your son to do anything in the summer, but there was a rather interesting program that included not only English lessons, but also mathematics and other subjects to choose from.
