INTRODUCTION TO LEADERSHIP

Everyone has the ability to inspire, and during our Introduction to Leadership course, we explore the foundations and qualities that will make each of our students effective leaders.
During this exciting two week programme, we examine well-known historical leadership figures and the characteristics that made them successful. Students will study the fundamentals of what is necessary to create their own personal leadership style by examining the habits and behaviours of modern business and political leaders.
Introduction to International Relations

Students with an intermediate to advanced level of English are offered this course. The program introduces students to the concepts of world politics and global issues through a series of current debates, presentations, and critical thinking tasks.

Canford School warmly welcomes aspiring creatives, aged 11 to 15, to join our Art & Design Program—an exceptional opportunity to immerse yourselves in the vibrant world of art and design.
English literature
- Required English: above Average
- The duration of the course: 2 weeks.
Through a series of interactive lessons and workshops, students will study both classical and contemporary literature: from Dickens to J.K. Rowling. To succeed in writing your own works, it is important that students develop their creative and collaborative skills, which is why under the Time to Shine program, students will work together to create an anthology of short works of art, drawing inspiration from literary works. At the end of the course, students will also take part in a poetry program to develop their creative talent and confidence in speaking. The course is available for 1-4 weeks.
Course objectives:
- Explore many literary works, their themes and contexts, including fiction, short stories, poetry
- Express critical responses to literary examples during group discussions
- Create and submit an anthology of literary works
- Improve your overall confidence in using the English language.
Introduction to Medicine
- Required level of English: intermediate and higher
- The duration of the course: 2 weeks.
An introduction to medicine introduces students to the theory and practical skills needed to become a doctor, dentist, sports scientist or other healthcare professional: the program gives students the first step to a future career in medicine. The course is available for 1-4 weeks.
The program introduces students to key aspects of the study of medicine, such as:
- What are pathologies and how are they treated
- How is the medicine used in emergency situations
- What ethical considerations exist in treating patients
- What students need to do to study medicine at the university level.
As part of the program, all students will complete a full course of first aid studying. The Introduction to Medicine program is taught both in traditional classrooms and in interesting and communicative Time and Shine projects: students who study key problems in the field of medicine, including innovative technologies, participate in them.

Canford is an amazing place on the UK coast: the school is 20 minutes from the coastal city of Bournemouth. The age of pupils is from 11 to 15 years: the students will have a unique opportunity to improve their level of English proficiency and make friends with representatives of other countries and nationalities. Canford Summer School offers a variety of English and academic courses that are taught by qualified teachers. All classes are multinational, studying is conducted in groups of no more than 15 people. Careful attention is paid to the development of communication skills needed in the 21st century, along with learning English:

What is the curriculum like, and how is it tailored to different age groups and language proficiency levels?
Our curriculum is designed to be engaging and interactive, with activities and lessons structured to suit various age groups and language abilities. We offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced level classes.
Accommodation, meals, prices
Comfortable accommodation is organized in rooms for 4-9 pupils. For students there is four meals a day, an additional vegetarian menu.
Activities Canford Summer School
A wide range of activities are offered every day, including cooking, football, photo competitions, yoga, or swimming — not only exciting activities, but also a great way to sharpen your English language skills. Every week, students have two full day excursions to the most interesting places in the UK (London, Oxford, Thorpe Park) - this is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the history of the country whose language they learn. Twice a week, students can choose instead of the usual program of events one of the options of the English Plus program, which includes additional options: street dance, art and design, and horse riding.

The English Plus+ Programme includes:
- Adventure Sports
Duration: 1 week. This course is for our more adventurous students and can include kayaking, paintballing, climbing, laser quest and high ropes. All activities take place off-site and are run by professional instructors.
- Horse Riding
Duration: 1 week. Students are taught by British Horse Society approved instructors at their school in the New Forest, which provides some of the finest countryside riding in the South of England. Beginners or experienced riders receive tuition in riding and looking after horses.
- Robotics
Duration: 2 weeks. Students will use the Edison robot to learn new coding languages including Scratch and Python. Using computers students will programme the robot to perform commands including communicating with each other, creating an anti-theft device, and engaging in a robot battle.
- Game Design
Using Bloxels game design software students will build their own video games, animating their own characters, objects, and stories. By the end of the course, students will have created their own video game that can be played by family and friends.
- Football
Football training, coaching, skill workshops and matches for those who love football. Led by UEFA Licensed Football coaches, students will work on many wide-ranging aspects of the game; from shooting and decision-making to tactical awareness and technical skills.
