Rochester Institute of Technology was founded in 1829: today it is a community of interested, socially conscious, intellectually developed scientists and students. Thanks to a creative and innovative approach, a combination of technology, art, design, the institute provides an extremely wide range of academic opportunities, leading research programs, specially designed education for deaf or hearing impaired students. In addition to the main campus in Rochester, New York, RIT has campuses in China, Croatia, Dubai, and Kosovo. With more than 19,000 students and more than 125,000 graduates from 50 states in the United States and more than 100 countries, RIT contributes to the progress of scientific and research activities around the world.

The RIT campus is approximately six miles from the center of Rochester, which allows you to enjoy urban entertainment, cultural opportunities, employment options. Rochester is quite a big city: it has cafes and restaurants, entertainment, clubs, but at the same time it keeps the atmosphere of a small and friendly place. The institute is six hours away by car from New York, Boston, Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Montreal, and much closer to Niagara Falls and Toronto.

RIT Dining offers a wide selection of healthy foods in all establishments for those who have dietary restrictions. The daily menu in all restaurants includes a range of international dishes, special dietary products - gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, halal.

Activities Rochester Institute of Technology

300 student clubs and RIT organizations organize more than 13,000 events on campus and beyond. Clubs bring together students who are fond of art, games, music, politics, science, sports, and theater.

The Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement gives students the opportunity to explore the social problems and cultural values of Greater Rochester. Participants spend an evening during the week or a few hours on weekends doing community work with a city non-profit organization, enjoying local sports events, comedy shows, a museum or other cultural experience in Rochester.

RIT offers a variety of art classes: academic courses, participation as a performer, spectator. The institute offers a variety of health courses - dancing, recreation, martial arts.

RIT Dining offers 21 student restaurants for students, faculty, staff, and guests of RIT.

The university has a developed sports infrastructure, including the Gene Polisseni Center, a platform for hockey tournaments that can accommodate 4300 spectators.

The AMPrint Center is a multifunctional printing center: its equipment allows you to work with 3D printing, print polymer, metal, ceramic materials inside one piece, develop new applications, take advantage of the new multifunctional capabilities of 3D printing.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Admission to RIT is competitive, each application is reviewed individually. The examination takes into account the level of academic education, the results of standard tests, recommendations, personal interests of the applicant. The university examines candidates from different geographical, social, cultural, economic, ethnic groups.

For admission a diploma / certificate is required:

  • US high school or equivalent - grade C or higher
  • International Baccalaureate - from 5 points
  • Advanced Placement - from 4 points.

Requirements for knowledge of English for admission to undergraduate:

  • TOEFL (iBT) - 79
  • PTE Academic - 58
  • IELTS - 6.5.

Scholarships Rochester Institute of Technology

Scholarships are awarded to foreign students based on high academic results. All applicants are considered for scholarships, but it is extended only to RIT students with an average score of 2.8 or higher. Foreign first-year applicants are encouraged to submit the results of the SAT or ACT to the commission for the award of scholarships.

RIT offers needs-based scholarships for international students. Students can apply for financial assistance through official ISFAA resources.
