The Harvey School is a private co-educational school for secondary education from grades 6 to 12.

The long history of the school begins in 1916 as a private school for boys, founded by a pediatrician from New York City Herbert Carter and his wife Mabel. They built a school right on their farm to provide a decent education for their disabled son.

The institution received its name in honor of Sir William Harvey - the personal physician of King Charles I, recognized as one of the pioneers of modern medicine. The first students of The Harvey School were 12 boys.

Today, Harvey School offers its students a program that will motivate them to learn throughout their life, to inspire to develop the confidence and leadership qualities that are so necessary to achieve success in today's rapidly changing world.

For the best productivity of the process, groups are formed small - up to 10 people. Professional teachers work with students. The ratio of students and teachers is 6: 1.

What are the most important factors parents should consider when choosing a school?

That the school views their students as individuals instead of cash flow. Unfortunately, there are institutions whose main priority is to sell their programs and lose sight that this is a big step for the students and their families. Embarking on a new journey in a new country can be frightening, so having the support of the staff members and students will be vital to a successful studying-abroad experience.

Accommodation, meals, prices

For students from the 7th to the 12th grade, The Harvey School’s private school is available in the residence from Monday to Friday. At the weekend, all students are distributed by host families or they return to their families.

Harvey students eat at the local canteen. Chef Lee Robinson organizes a balanced menu for students, so breakfast, lunch and dinner are always hearty, tasty and healthy.

Activities Private School The Harvey School

According to the management of The Harvey School, art is as integral to education as reading or writing, because it gives students the opportunity to develop cultural literacy, imagination and creativity. Good physical shape is one of the important components of a healthy and active life, so sports activities in school are given special attention. • Rugby
  • Lacrosse

Review about Private School The Harvey School

I studied at the school 3 years ago. The school has an excellent art center, Walker Center, where I did vocals. The center has professional equipment and great teachers. The school itself is also not bad. Teachers are different... no problems with most, but sometimes there were unpleasant moments. Good host families — they treat students well =)

Excellent school, located in a suburb of New York. The school has its own unique feature: you live in the boarding house for 5 days, then on weekends you go to a host family. The families are great, there have never been any problems with that, generally. A family is assigned for the year, but there have been cases where families changed. Very few international students, about five percent, if not less. This is partly why they came up with this 5-day boarding format.

Our daughter studied at this school for one semester. We were looking for a school in or around New York. Her uncle lives there, so the 5-day boarding format worked perfectly for us! The school is located away from central New York in a quiet, green area. There are forests and parks nearby, a really good place for studying and living. The school has lots of clubs and sports. They do an excellent job matching students with host families for weekends. We arranged for our child to stay with relatives most weekends, but sometimes we had to use the host family service. Our daughter was very happy with it! She got sociable, typical American families who always tried to surprise her with American food and really gave her lots of attention and care.
