Early Years Curriculum

  • Age: from 2 to 6 years.

Preschool teachers for the little ones take reggio Emilia's approach, believing that children learn best through independent, experience-based play, in an environment based on interpersonal relationships.

The main areas of study at EYFS are personal, social and emotional development, communication and language, and physical development. Much attention is paid to the development of literacy, counting, understanding of the world and expressive arts with design.

Primary School

  • Age: from 6 to 12 years.

The Primary School Curriculum is a mixture of British National and International Primary Curriculum (IPC), adopting a creative and research approach. An interdisciplinary approach helps children make meaningful connections and connect their learning to the real world.

Small classes and an individual approach mean that every child receives support and challenges through a positive culture of setting goals, measuring progress and achievement.

Science, geography, history, ICT, art, music, technology, society and physical education (FV) are all included in the thematic curricula.

Nederlandse Taal En Cultuur (NTC)

  • Age: from 6 to 12 years.

NTC classes operate in addition to the standard curriculum and are conducted by an experienced team of teachers for three hours once a week. Younger students expand their vocabulary in a playful way through fun and engaging activities, while older students focus on spelling, grammar, reading, and writing in Dutch.

NTC classes are available for Dutch students studying outside the NAS, from groups 1-8 of Dutch primary education, grades 1-3 and above for secondary education (subject to sufficient registration). Dutch lessons are already included in the regular educational curriculum for children in the primary grades of the English stream.

Students are tested in the same way as children in the Netherlands, as the classrooms use Dutch books and methods. Students can engage in their native language and gain a sense of community by working in groups, which online programs cannot offer.
