Starting from humble roots, the school traces its origins to an Indonesian teacher who taught Dutch children in the back room of her home in Menteng. As the school's reputation and student numbers continued to grow, a special building was built in the Philips extensions on Jalan Proklamasi, and in 1967 NIS was officially born.

The international philosophy of teaching at the school supports child-centered learning through the combination of English, Dutch and International Curricula (IPC). The institution accepts for training kids from 18 months to 12 years and is advanced in this age category.

Children have access to innovative training courses that combine the internationally recognized English national and international primary curriculum. Educators focus on one-on-one, inquiry-based learning to accelerate each child's progress.

Each spring semester, Nord Anglia students attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to immerse themselves in a culture of practical problem-solving. Children will get acquainted with leading MIT scientists, build and experiment at master classes, learn about new discoveries. Activities during a visit to MIT include everything from building robots to bioengineering and programming. The child will have the opportunity to visit Harvard, which will allow him to experience student life in one of these prestigious universities.

Lessons throughout the day include a large number of children's interactions with each other to share cultural experiences and skills.

A wide range of additional courses are available, which are not available in other Asian schools:

• Dutch

A Dutch language and culture training program is offered for the Dutch-speaking community. Children attend daily language lessons conducted by qualified and experienced teachers in accordance with Kerndoelen Primair Onderwijs. It is possible to pass the national CITO tests.

• EAL (English as an additional language)

Children who do not know English well or are still developing their language skills have access to a daily program with EAL specialist teachers. This programme helps students to gradually build their confidence and competence in the use of English in all areas of study.

• Indonesian Language and Culture

The Bahasa Indonesia Program of Indonesian Language and Culture is offered for Indonesian students. Children are taught daily by qualified and experienced local teachers. International students can choose to study in the Bahasa study program.

For many expats, proximity to international schools is a top priority. Almost all international schools are located around South Jakarta, and the surrounding areas have already become incredibly popular with foreign families. The main areas where expat families usually move are Kemang, Chipete and Pondock Indus.

The varied schedule offers a wide range of activities tailored to every age group – from sports to the arts, from technology to games. The comprehensive swimming programme is complemented by an ECA swimming class. Activities take place at lunchtime or after school, some by teachers and others by professional trainers and instructors. All students participate in 3-5 activities each week.

Available areas for comprehensive development:

• Soccer

Open to boys and girls of all levels. Each week, children practice the key skills and tactics of the game through exercises, mini-games and matches.

• Dancing

• Library and board games

Children can study fiction and non-fiction, read a story with a group of friends, or challenge a peer in a board game. The teacher will introduce children to new authors, teach them library skills and play board games with them that develop thinking and teamwork skills.

• Chorus

This club is an introduction to choral singing. Children will learn to sing in a group with different harmonious voices, gradually get acquainted with a number of singing techniques with fascinating, simple songs for practice, the opportunity to perform in front of parents and peers.

• Performing arts

This ECA uses drama, role-playing, storytelling, singing and music to learn and develop performing arts skills. Children will work together, developing communication and performing skills, revealing their creative abilities.

• Drama games

In this drama club for younger schoolchildren, children will have the opportunity to participate in a number of dramatic games, develop their singing, musical and acting abilities. Students will be encouraged to perform in small groups in front of each other to develop stage skills and confidence.

• The Art of Origami.

• Children from a very early age learn a wide range of foreign languages - English, Dutch, Bahasa.
• Here you can meet representatives of more than 26 nationalities from all over the world.
• The student-teacher ratio is 11 to 1 and the average class size is 18.

Located in a residential area of South Jakarta, NAS Jakarta's expansive, garden-like campus creates a vibrant and stimulating learning environment for every child.  The well-equipped classrooms are complemented by specialized facilities, including a music room with a wide range of instruments, an extensive library and workshop, a potions lab, and a state-of-the-art computer kit to support STEAM training.

Sports facilities include a large gym, two swimming pools, a football field, basketball courts and a soft playground for the youngest students.

• Step 1 – Providing Basic Information

Full name, date of birth, nationality, expected date of receipt.

• Step 2 – School Attendance

The family is invited on a tour of the Nord Anglia School campus in Jakarta. If it is not possible to attend in person or school campuses are temporarily closed, an online visit is offered – a virtual introductory meeting (VDM). A visit to the school consists of a half-hour tour of campus under the guidance of an admissions officer, followed by the opportunity to meet and talk with the principal.

• Step 3 – Formal Submission of the Application and Payment of the Application

It is necessary to send a full package of required documents by mail or in electronic format.  At this stage, a non-refundable registration fee of BD Rs 240,000 per child is charged when submitting the school application form. Payment can be made by bank transfer or at an ATM at the school.

• Step 4 – Waiting for results

The academic staff of the institution will review the application, and it will be possible to expect a response from a special admission officer within 48 hours.

• Step 5 – Offer accommodation and school fees

To complete the admissions process, you must provide a signed Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and send an invoice for registration/tuition fees. To reserve space for a child, payments must be made within two weeks of receiving the Letter of Acceptance (LOA).

• Step 6 – Registration and Orientation

At the final stage of admission, you need to perform the following steps:

• Fill in the emergency communication and consent to treatment consent form
• Meeting with the class teacher is an opportunity for school staff and the child to meet with the new class teacher so that they can get to know each other better.

Parents will then receive their Nord Anglia School Jakarta learning platform account details with their passwords.

To enter school, the following package of documents is required:

• Completed application form with signatures (one for each child)
• Copies of passports of parents and children (id card pages only)
• A copy of KITAS (temporary residence or work permit) or DINAS (diplomatic visa) of both parents and child (if not already available, they can be submitted later)
• Digital photo of both parent and child (taken within the last 6 months)
• Last copy of vaccination records
• Copy of the latest school report card for the last two school years
• Scorecards, if the child has previously required any additional educational or emotional support, as well as copies of any documentation that will help determine the level of support he will need at Nord Anglia School Jakarta.
