Pre-School (2 - 4 Years Old)

  • Age – 2-4 years,
  • Duration — 3 years,
  • The language of instruction is English.

Moor Allerton Kindergarten opened more than half a century ago: it is a cozy, safe and child-friendly place, where every child, regardless of his talents and personal qualities, is given attention, appreciated and surrounded by love, respect and care.

Children study in small groups of 3-5 people, rarely more - this allows you to create a cozy, almost family atmosphere, gives each student a chance to prove himself. Teachers personally get to know the child, gain his trust and provide all the necessary support, involving him in the educational process with interesting lessons and vivid examples.

The preschool curriculum is structured around three main areas:

  1. communication and language, physical, personal, emotional and social development;
  2. literacy, understanding of mathematics and the structure of the world around us;
  3. Handicrafts, expressive arts and design.

The use of various teaching methods and pedagogical techniques helps the teacher to keep the attention and interest of children throughout the day, encouraging them to explore and think, explore boundaries, and interact with peers and adults through natural curiosity.

The key task of this stage, in addition to encouraging curiosity and familiarity with the world around us, is to engender in the child a love of learning, nurture it and maintain it for the rest of his life.

Regular use of non-standard methods to monitor progress ensures that both strengths and challenges are identified at an early stage, ensuring that the child can always count on timely and proportionate support to overcome any obstacles.

Pre-Prep (5 - 6 Years Old)

  • Age – 5-6 years;
  • Duration — 2 years;
  • The language of instruction is English.

The preparatory program of primary school is aimed at making the child's entry into the academic process as comfortable, relaxed and constructive as possible.

The program includes the basics of writing, reading and numeracy – both oral and written – basic ideas about the world around us in a visual, vivid and structured form, skills for caring for oneself and others. Children are taught the basic rules of communication with peers and adults, help build a social hierarchy and form connections.

Great importance is attached to sports; If at the initial stage it is more often just any physical activity, then at the new stage, Moor Allerton students are explained the importance of outdoor games, gymnastics, involved through a competitive element, so that from a simple lesson, sports turn into an important and interesting element of everyday life, become a habit.

School staff, teachers and educators still play a much larger role in a child's life. Interaction with parents is also important: they are directly involved in most school activities both in and out of the classroom.

Prep (7-11 Years Old)

  • Age – 7-11 years;
  • Duration: 4 years;
  • The language of instruction is English.

Children aged 7-11 need an individual approach, so the school provides children with such an opportunity, combining the strict academicism of the program, a variety of electives, a significant sports component, which is complemented by extracurricular activities. Much attention is paid to education, psychological support: the school is convinced that students should be prepared not only for the academic problems they face, but also for emotional, psychological and social difficulties – both those that they already face and often arise in upper secondary school.

At Moor Allerton, many non-traditional pedagogical techniques are used to help students develop their talents and personal qualities to the fullest. For example, third-graders in literature classes not only study classical and modern prose and poetry, but also learn to independently construct a literary text. Such practices continue until the sixth grade, and as students grow older, the tasks facing them become more complex — they learn not only to build a coherent narrative and use various plot techniques, but also to evaluate composition, analyze and analyze the work of their classmates.

Sport continues to play an important role. Physical education lessons under the supervision of qualified sports staff with diverse and relevant experience are complemented by stimulating team and individual sports, as well as a competitive atmosphere, regular performances and competitions both within the school and in inter-school competitions of various levels.

The program is complemented by a number of specialized subjects: art and design, sculpture, modeling, expressive and dramatic art, French, geography, home economics in its various manifestations, music (both instrumental and vocal), STEM subjects. All this is complemented by an impressive extracurricular programme including tours of Edinburgh and Borraton Park in Shropshire, ski trips to southern France, residential courses in Idale and Aberdeen, gymnastics and fencing, ballet, table tennis, individual and group debates and much more.
