Modern Montessori School is a private international school in the Khalda district of Amman. It was founded in 1985 and began with a kindergarten built on the Montessori method by Maria Montessori — it was the first full-fledged Montessori kindergarten in the region. In 1994, MMS received methodological support from the London Montessori Centre, translated educational materials into Arabic, and adapted them to the local cultural context.

Later, the school built a complete pathway from preschool level to graduation classes. The primary level follows the Primary Years programme, the middle level — the Middle Years programme, and the senior level — the international diploma programme, which the school has offered since 1998, making Modern Montessori the second school in Jordan to offer it. Today, more than 1,600 students are enrolled at MMS — from kindergarten to grade 12, and the number of graduates exceeds 2,100 people. In 2025, the school joined the international group Inspired Education.

The educational process combines the Montessori approach, the highest international academic standards, and a bilingual environment. The school places emphasis on independence, inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and the practical application of knowledge. Great attention is paid to communication, collaboration, and leadership: students participate in projects, presentations, community initiatives, and creative activities, working both individually and in teams.

The school supports the emotional well-being of students through counselors, LEAD specialists, and personal development programs: counselors, LEAD specialists, and personal development programs help students cope with academic workload, communication, and planning their future path.

• In 2025, 122 MMS students sat the Diploma exam: the result was 100%, and almost half of the graduates scored 35 or more points.
• The Amin Hasan Award program was named after Amin Hasan — the father of the school's founder: it is designed for students in grades 6–10 and combines sports activities, expeditions, social initiatives, first aid training, and elements of civil defense.

The Modern Montessori School campus is located in the Khalda district of Amman. The school is divided into several age levels — Kindergarten, Primary School, Middle School, and Senior School / Diploma College, each with separate learning spaces and its own academic leadership.

Meals are provided in the school canteen: students are offered hot dishes, sandwiches, and drinks. Food is prepared daily, with different dietary preferences and restrictions taken into account when planning the menu. The menu is updated every week and is available to parents and students online.

Extracurricular life at MMS is built around student self-governance, sports, Model United Nations, personal development programs, community projects, and performing arts. The Student Council helps students interact with administration and teachers, participate in discussions of school initiatives, and support the school community.

Since 2018, the MontessoriMUN Jo program has been running for students aged 13 and older; participants simulate UN sessions, prepare delegation positions, deliver speeches, take part in debates, and study international issues. This format develops public speaking, research, argumentation, and negotiation skills.

For students in grades 3–5, the school offers the Mind, Body & Soul program, which combines creative projects, physical activity, expeditions, sports, and community engagement. For grades 6–10, the Amin Hasan Award is in place — a program that includes sports activities, expeditions, social projects, first aid courses, and civil defense classes.

Sports play a notable role in students' lives: they have access to basketball, football, swimming, volleyball, and gymnastics for younger ages. The teams compete under the name MMS Eagles, participating in various tournaments and sporting events.

The performing arts are represented by dance, music, traditional and musical theater. The Yellow Brick Road theater program holds a particularly important place in the school's culture.

The family submits an application, after which the school schedules an exam (paid separately) and an interview. After a preliminary decision, the family sends a package of documents to the admissions office; for students transferring from schools outside Jordan, the school requires certified documents. The school then sends the family an official enrollment letter and a contract. To confirm the place, the documents must be signed and the required payments made.

The upper school grades at MMS are focused on preparation for university admission. For students in grades 9–12, a system of academic and career counseling has been established: students are helped to choose subjects, determine their future major and universities, keep track of application deadlines, prepare the necessary application materials, including motivation letters and recommendations. The school organizes meetings with university representatives and provides counseling on entrance exams.

Career guidance begins as early as grade 10: students participate in career orientation meetings, take interest assessments, and receive individual consultations. Additionally, the school offers an internship program that introduces upper school students to various professional fields and helps them master the basics of resume writing, cover letters, and interviewing.

To apply, the following are required: an application form, a photograph, school reports for the last two years, a financial statement from the previous school, recommendations, copies of the student's and parents' documents, medical and vaccination records. For grades 4–12, a handwritten statement from the student in English is additionally required.

For Primary, Middle and Senior School, testing includes English, mathematics and Arabic; for admission to the diploma program, academic results and conduct over the previous two years of study are taken into account.

Each student must have a legal guardian residing in Jordan; foreign nationals handle visa matters independently.

Children of Modern Montessori graduates may receive a 10% discount on tuition if the parent attended the school for at least three years. The benefit applies only to the base tuition cost and does not include additional fees.

The school offers academic and sports scholarships.

• The Academic Rank One Scholarship fully covers tuition for the student who ranks first in their class from grades 4 through 11.
• The sports scholarship provides a 25% discount to students in grades 6–12 who are members of an official national team; the discount applies during the confirmed period of team participation. The same discount is available to winners of gold and silver Olympic medals at international competitions.

For students who have achieved high results at the international level, the school provides additional discounts: 25% for first place, 20% for second, and 15% for third. These benefits apply exclusively to tuition fees.

There is an AHA Scholarship for students in grades 6–10: to be eligible, applicants must have completed the Amin Hasan Award program, have no disciplinary violations, and demonstrate the highest academic performance in their class.
