Summer English Course

This course offers an exciting adventure with the opportunity to intensively improve your English language skills, explore the sights of Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Students can expect a busy schedule with 40 English lessons, six excursions, almost daily campus events and a three-day trip to Ottawa, Montreal.

In English lessons, students develop writing, reading, speaking and listening skills, actively participating in group projects and discussions. Outside the classroom, they practice their spoken language and expand their vocabulary by regularly communicating with teachers, classmates and locals.

During the course of study, students take small tests to track progress, and at the end of the course they receive a graduation certificate.

Metropolitan University Summer Camp (Toronto, Montreal & Ottawa) — a summer camp with a short-term English language course aimed at students aged 12-20 with any level of language skills.

The program offers students not only exciting lessons under the guidance of competent native teachers but also a rich leisure plan with campus events and excursions. A feature of the course is the opportunity to spend three days in Ottawa and Montreal, which will expand the academic environment, provide students with new experiences, and further diversify their summer holidays. Throughout their stay at the camp, students are in a supportive atmosphere where every teacher is interested in their progress, and classmates create a friendly environment for fun.

Training is organized on the Metropolitan University campus in Toronto.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students are accommodated in a university residence, occupying individual bedrooms in apartments with bathrooms (apartments are designed for multiple occupants, so at least two residents share the bathroom).

Accommodation is provided on a "full board" basis — students receive daily meals including two Canadian breakfasts and a prepaid card for excursions.

Campers can expect a rich program of events — almost every day they will have daytime and evening interactive games, discos, sports training, creative and culinary master classes, talent shows, and much more. The campus infrastructure is actively used for these events: various studios, open areas, sports facilities.

The course schedule includes five full-day and one half-day excursions. During trips by private bus and walking tours, students will enjoy:

  • Downtown Toronto, Old Town Hall and Yonge-Dundas Square, Chinatown and Fashion District, Art Gallery of Toronto,
  • Harbourfront area, Distillery District, visiting the CN Tower,
  • Yorkville: shopping, visiting the Royal Ontario Museum, walking through Queens Park,
  • Woodbine Beach, walking tour along Queen Street East waterfront,
  • Niagara Falls: a cruise aboard Maid of the Mist, Victoria Park,
  • CF Toronto Hockey Hall of Fame and Eaton Centre.

During the learning process (or closer to the end of the course), students can spend three days in Montreal and Ottawa, where they will find comfortable hotel or university residence, half-board meals, and several excursions:

  • Ottawa: Peace Tower, Centennial Flame and Parliament Hill, changing of the guard ceremony, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, walking tour along the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, Lower Town, ByWard Market,
  • Montreal: visiting Old Montreal and Old Port, Notre-Dame Basilica, Mount Royal Park and observation deck, Underground City and shopping street.

Facilities and equipment at Metropolitan University Summer Camp, Summer Camp at Metropolitan University of Toronto

The Metropolitan University learning campus is located in the heart of Toronto, minutes from major attractions such as Kensington Market, Yonge-Dundas Square, the CN Tower and others. The campus recently underwent a large-scale renovation, after which it is ready to offer high-tech equipment for classrooms, dining halls, sports facilities, specialized studios, residence halls and other premises.

Admission dates and extra charges

The summer program is available in June-July and offers a choice of start date and study duration — students can stay on campus for two, three or four weeks. They follow an intensive schedule with morning English lessons, daytime and evening activities. Several days a week, excursions are planned for students.

The cost already covers expenses for on-campus and off-campus events, accommodation and meals, study materials and more. Flights and medical insurance, administrative fees and deposits, and personal expenses will require additional payment.

Enrolment process

The admissions committee expects a completed registration form and documents, after which it provides all the necessary information about arrival in the country and on campus, conducts an online test to determine the current level of English. Upon arrival at the educational territory, students are assigned to groups and begin their studies.

Perspectives

Each participant of the summer program receives a graduation certificate confirming their language level progress and acquired knowledge. Throughout several weeks of study, students are in an English-speaking environment, which helps them to develop their knowledge more effectively and gain confidence in using their skills in various situations.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Students with any level of English proficiency are accepted to the course, from 12 to 20 years old. International applicants need a foreign passport, health insurance, and a visa or residence permit for Canada in order to study in the country.
