Markfield Institute of Higher Education is an institution specializing in Islamic disciplines. Markfield Institute was founded in 2000 and was inaugurated by Prince Charles. The aim of the institute is to promote mutual understanding between Muslim communities and the multifaceted societies of the West of which they are a part – the institute is committed to the positive contribution of its alumni to this field. Its mission is to integrate the richness and high standards of traditional Islamic scholarship with the best Western research methods, academic rigor and critical inquiry. 

Markfield Institute provides students with the opportunity to study under the guidance of experienced teachers and listen to lectures by invited experts. The educational process includes lectures, seminars and individual support. The emphasis is on independent learning, allowing time to develop research skills and critical abilities. Pastoral support is available throughout the course.

Since 2000, the Markfield Institute of Higher Education has been actively conducting scientific research, making it the main goal of its development. Particular attention is paid to Islamic Studies, Islamic Education, Islamic Banking, Finance and Management. Throughout its existence, the program of postgraduate scientific degrees (including master's and doctoral degrees) has already attracted a large number of students from different countries, who have successfully received high scientific titles.

The Markfield Institute effectively develops competent leadership capacity in the field of Islam in a contemporary context, bringing together a wide range of knowledge. In addition to the active research staff, the institute has created a network of researchers and visiting scholars who complement and improve the scientific projects of the institute. The research programs organized by the institute benefit both staff and research students. Regular research seminars, workshops, symposia and conferences contribute to the mutual enrichment of ideas and thinking, the exchange of best practices in scientific research.

Markfield's main campus offers self-catering apartments with separate spaces for men and women. Due to the limited number of rooms, the allocation is on a first-come, first-served basis. The Institute does not provide this accommodation directly: accommodation is available through a request to the Markfield Convention Centre.

Alternatively, students can find accommodation on their own in Markfield or nearby, in Leicester and Loughborough. Prices vary depending on the location and comfort of the option.

Students at Markfield Institute of Higher Education love to spend their free time outdoors, they are actively involved in sports, usually choosing football, table tennis, volleyball, badminton and billiards. For those who prefer to educate on their own, the institute has a gym.

In addition to physical activity, students find time for spiritual enrichment, actively participate in prayers and religious ceremonies.

Markfield Institute is a cosy educational institution located in a quiet location of Leicestershire on an area of 9 acres, in a wooded area, within easy reach of the M1 motorway, about 8 miles from Leicester. There are interesting attractions near the institute, such as Thornton Reservoir and Bradgate Park.

The main campus offers a homely environment, access to one of the largest Islamic libraries in Europe, containing more than 40,000 books and magazines. The Markfield Mosque is located on the territory of the institute: Friday sermons are read by students, teachers, scholars and invited guests. The prayer hall on the Markfield campus is open 24 hours and seats about 200 people. 

In addition, the Markfield Institute is equipped with sports facilities: a gym and an open field, a small gym.

The academic year at Markfield Institute is divided into semesters, with the academic year starting in September and ending in June.

When deciding to enroll at the Markfield Institute of Higher Education, the candidate must:

1. Fill out an online form, including your education details and immigration history. In the application, you will need to state your reasons for applying for the chosen course.
2. The following documents must be attached to the application:

• Completed application form,
• Copy of passport,
• Details of any immigration history to the UK (details of previous visas and visa refusals),
• UKVI IELTS Academic English test results from a UKVI approved test centre,
• Copies of educational documents already obtained, 
• A copy of the UK NARIC's statement of compliance with the highest level of qualification.

3. The candidate must have sufficient finances to cover the cost of the chosen course and living expenses: it is necessary to provide financial documents confirming compliance with the requirements of the institute.

International applicants must demonstrate their proficiency in English, pass the IELTS B2 academic test at a UKVI approved test centre in their home country. The required IELTS test score is a minimum of 5.5 in each of the four sub-components (reading, writing, speaking, and listening). An IELTS English Academic Test that is not taken at a UKVI approved test centre will not be accepted.

Applicants can apply to the National Zakat Foundation if they require support in paying for their education. This fund is a grant to help Muslims who have dedicated themselves to community service with the aim of supporting Muslims in the UK to help them better serve Islam. Students who apply are eligible for a partial or full scholarship.
