Markfield Institute of Higher Education is an institution specializing in Islamic disciplines. Since 2000, the Markfield Institute of Higher Education has been actively conducting scientific research, making it the main goal of its development. Particular attention is paid to Islamic Studies, Islamic Education, Islamic Banking, Finance and Management. Throughout its existence, the program of postgraduate scientific degrees (including master's and doctoral degrees) has already attracted a large number of students from different countries, who have successfully received high scientific titles.

The Markfield Institute effectively develops competent leadership capacity in the field of Islam in a contemporary context, bringing together a wide range of knowledge. In addition to the active research staff, the institute has created a network of researchers and visiting scholars who complement and improve the scientific projects of the institute. Markfield's main campus offers self-catering apartments with separate spaces for men and women. Due to the limited number of rooms, the allocation is on a first-come, first-served basis. The Institute does not provide this accommodation directly: accommodation is available through a request to the Markfield Convention Centre.

Alternatively, students can find accommodation on their own in Markfield or nearby, in Leicester and Loughborough. Prices vary depending on the location and comfort of the option.

There are interesting attractions near the institute, such as Thornton Reservoir and Bradgate Park.

The main campus offers a homely environment, access to one of the largest Islamic libraries in Europe, containing more than 40,000 books and magazines. The Markfield Mosque is located on the territory of the institute: Friday sermons are read by students, teachers, scholars and invited guests. The prayer hall on the Markfield campus is open 24 hours and seats about 200 people. 

In addition, the Markfield Institute is equipped with sports facilities: a gym and an open field, a small gym.

Enrolment process

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

International applicants must demonstrate their proficiency in English, pass the IELTS B2 academic test at a UKVI approved test centre in their home country. The required IELTS test score is a minimum of 5.5 in each of the four sub-components (reading, writing, speaking, and listening). An IELTS English Academic Test that is not taken at a UKVI approved test centre will not be accepted.

Scholarships Markfield Institute of Higher Education

Applicants can apply to the National Zakat Foundation if they require support in paying for their education. This fund is a grant to help Muslims who have dedicated themselves to community service with the aim of supporting Muslims in the UK to help them better serve Islam.
