Since its founding in 1922, Indian Mountain School (IMS) has encouraged its students to pay great attention to social service: the values of honesty, compassion, and respect determine the goals of teaching and schooling. The school offers permanent residence or full-time education for students from 4 to 14 years. Academic education is supported by numerous elective courses aimed at the comprehensive development of students. Programs for pupils living in a boarding school include a variety of leisure activities, family-style dinners, celebrations, and a warm and supportive school culture.
The school uses a technological approach to learning, so that students can actively interact with the outside world, the achievements of modern science. Outdoor events have been an integral part of student life since the opening of the institution due to its excellent location: mountainous terrain, forests, clean air. Adventure Education teaches students to interact with nature, to appreciate and protect it.
About 250 students take the school annually: about 100 of them are boarders of 5–9 grades, representing 10 US states and more than a dozen international countries.
Primary school is a bright, colourful place offering a strong, creative curriculum with energetic learning. An experienced teaching staff sets high standards, fostering genuine enthusiasm for learning. A well-designed curriculum is designed to develop the knowledge and skills of students in all areas - physical, social, emotional and intellectual.
In high school, students spend the day with a small team of teachers, providing a transition from elementary school with closed classes to high school, where students change classrooms every lesson. Students use library and technology resources, well-equipped science laboratories, art studios, extensive sports facilities as part of a curriculum specifically designed to meet the level of development and needs of students.
The secondary school curriculum focuses on traditional academic disciplines, learning foreign languages: Latin, Spanish, Chinese. The program includes a wide range of extracurricular activities, including music lessons, outdoor exercises, arts, and athletics.
While studying in high school, the level of student responsibility grows. The teaching staff provides a balance of support and independence, allowing students to discover new ways of applying knowledge, using information, and mastering skills.
The complex curriculum includes the study of literature, writing, history, science, mathematics, in-depth study of Latin, Chinese or Spanish, interdisciplinary projects and opportunities for independent learning. Graduates are well prepared to enter the most competitive secondary schools of the country, to contribute to the wide world around them.

More than 100 IMS students from across the country live in six comfortable hostels on the 600-acre campus in the southern part of Berkshire. The boarding program includes 5-, 7-day stay options for students in grades 5-9. Students are looked after by a full-time teacher who lives on campus with his family.
Weekend at IMS is filled with events on campus and beyond: students take advantage of the proximity of two major cities within one day’s drive from the school, close proximity to mountain ranges.
Programs offer activities for every taste: a variety of cultural events, sports competitions, outdoor adventures, culinary experiences, local holidays, leaving time for study, academic needs, personal privacy. Some options for weekend trips:
