Holidays in Rhodes: the gold standard of Greek holidays

Holidays in Rhodes: the gold standard of Greek holidays

The road is convenient and comfortable, the planes are new. At the airport, upon arrival, free and very prompt testing for the crown is carried out. Those lucky ones who overcome this barrier are escorted to the bus and accompanied by a guide go to the hotel.

The road is short and free, there are few cars. In the worst case, it takes an hour, but during the registration you will be waiting at the reception desk for champagne, light snacks and air conditioning. In general, we checked in, settled down - and straight to the beach.

Advantages

  • The number of rooms is not the freshest, but boasts comfort, spaciousness, large loggias and balconies, as well as the necessary equipment - from a refrigerator and TV to a coffee machine (unlike a number of other southern Europeans, Greece prefers classic European coffee without local delights) + a traditional set of bathrobes, towels and the like.
  • Wireless Internet.
  • The food is excellent. Greek cuisine with gyros, numerous cheeses and layers from neighbors from Turkey, Italy and Macedonia (North!) is beyond praise. The products are delicious, high-quality and fresh – both in the market and in supermarkets. Hotels often hold themed evenings with dinner in the national style - such an event should not be missed, because the buffet allows you to plenty of tasting.
  • Rhodes hotels are characterized by abundance and spacious. Each has dozens of swimming pools, courtyards and courtyards, corners and grottoes. Everything is intimate and very individualistic; for nothing that there are a lot of tourists, paintings like Sochi beaches with a rookery of seals can not be found.

Disadvantages

  • Not everyone likes pebble beaches, and the coastline in Rhodes is just that. Without rubber slippers here can not do - otherwise the entrance to the water will be a test for delicate legs;
  • Immediately from the shore begins a sharp increase in depth - so for a holiday with young children, this solution will not be ideal, it will be better to leave them in the children's room or pool under the supervision of a hotel employee;
  • Some hotels are very far from resorts and major cities, so every exit for a walk or shopping will be accompanied by spending on a round-trip taxi. Of course, hotels offer travelers and vacationers their own entertainment programs with animators, dances in ethnic style, stargazing and wine tasting - in general, leisurely and measured entertainment for staid and calm Europeans.

Entertainment

On this ancient island there is something to see - take at least the Lindos Acropolis and the old town. Prasonisi - here the waters of the Aegean and Mediterranean Sea meet, there is a noticeable difference in the color of sea water. Here is recognized in the European format place of party of fans of surfing and kiting.

In general, there are dozens of different options with extensive entertainment and recreational-cultural programs – consult with the tour operator and choose the best. Or leave a couple of days to explore the island on your own in the style of Durrell.

Finally, a few tips:

  1. This Greek island is too beautiful to stick in a hotel and sour in the pool, devouring food from the buffet and licking in the bar. Here you can have great fun, visit several wineries, unknown beaches and villages, dine in a tavern or trattoria - each time different. In general, do not sit in the seat - move!
  2. Three days before departure, you need to do a PCR test. It has a small "shelf life", so be vigilant and attentive. By the way, there is an express version: in this case, for a one-and-a-half increase in cost, everything will be done in less than a day.
  3. If you have a lot of children and minimal swimming skills, it is better to choose the Mediterranean coast, since the Aegean Sea, for nothing that is "semi-open", is very turbulent and angry by nature.
  4. The good-naturedness of the locals knows no limit. Make it clear that you need help – and you will not need anything.
  5. Treat with respect the representatives of the Orthodox Church in Rhodes: the Greeks respect the Christian faith and its ministers. Therefore, if you are located on the beach near the ruins of an ancient temple and you suddenly pounce on a man in a black cassock, frightening with frantic gestures and guttural cries, do not be surprised. It is better to just move to another place - the neighborhood of naked bodies with the temple, according to the clergy, is not the best idea.
