Founded in 1792, the Fryeburg Private Academy is one of the oldest boarding schools in Maine. Today it is a private educational institution of mixed type of studying, where boys and girls from 15 to 19 years can effectively and qualitatively prepare for admission to the university, take final exams and get a prestigious certificate of full secondary education.

About 60 experienced teachers work at the school today (all of them are native speakers, accredited to work with foreign students). Teachers are ready to work with students during extra-curricular time, to assign additional classes to once again explain a difficult topic or academic aspect. Teachers not only invest in the students basic, fundamental knowledge of key subjects, but also try to cultivate in them leadership qualities, critical and analytical thinking, to develop communication skills, responsibility.

The studying of students does not end in the classroom - it continues far beyond the academic building. The Special Research Center regularly organizes a variety of outdoor activities: interesting workshops and experiments on biology, chemistry, digital media and environmental protection.

Special curators and career advisors help graduates to determine the choice of a priority university, to fill out questionnaires, to clarify the introductory requirements and properly submit documents. Often the school is visited by representatives of various colleges, universities and higher schools: they meet with alumni, talk about their educational institution, its features, requirements and procedures. Among graduates the most popular educational institutions are the following universities:

In each classroom, 8-18 people are engaged, on average - 14: this allows the teachers to give each student due personal attention, to practice an individual approach. In total, 500 people study at the school today (about 100 people at the boarding house), about 20% are foreign studets from 23 countries, including:

  • Korea
  • Russia
  • Ukraine
  • Brazil
  • Japan
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Germany.

The school year is divided into 2 semesters, between which there are vacations. Every 6 weeks the pupil's parents receive a full report from the school administration: it shows the student's successes and achievements in the academic, creative and sports fields, recommendations for his further study and development.

What advice do you have for applicants to American schools and why?

Take the time to study schools: seek information yourself and trust your educational agents, their experience and knowledge. Focus on those schools that fit your specific goals.

Ask questions! Attend job interviews, school trips, connect with staff and admissions.

Prepare well for exams - SSAT, ISEE or TOEFL - learn the rules for writing essays.

And, of course, discuss with your family the financial possibilities, the conditions of each school.

Go for it!

Review about Fryeburg Academy Private School

The children started school last year. We were pleasantly impressed by the teachers and staff who work at the boarding house. Very attentive attitude to children, equal attitude to all students, favorites are not singled out. A good music club. There is also an opportunity to take part in volunteer programs. It is not necessary, but, as you know, universities look at such activities well. Therefore, now children actively participate in charity events.

He graduated from Freiburg 2 years ago. I can say that the level of training here is at a high level. The teachers, especially those who have been working there for a long time, are the best. They really care about the students and will do their best to help them succeed. Thanks to them, I was able to enter UCLA, where I wanted to go initially. Excellent athletics section. In general, sports sections are arranged in such a way that you can join them from almost any level, and you will be assigned to the appropriate team. Discipline is not rigid, the campus is open, at lunch you can go outside it.

They entered this school on the recommendation of relatives who live in the United States. We are satisfied with the school. The most pleasant feature of this school is the sensitive, caring attitude of the teachers. Subjects are taught interestingly, a lot of practice in scientific subjects. The child, while studying at school, became seriously interested in chemistry, although earlier he had difficulties with this subject. Good accommodation at the guesthouse, many sports clubs.
