Review about Farlington private School

Alexander
(24.07.2022)
We chose the school for our daughter based on a recommendation from friends whose children had studied there. For us, this step was positive in every way. At school, Mia was able to really come out of her shell when interacting with students, she developed good relationships with the teachers and the girls at the school. After the first year of studies, we noticed that she had become much more independent and active. In terms of academics, she liked how the subjects were taught. The material was quite extensive. She had to study much more than she did in her previous school. In total, she spent 3 years at Farlington and then went on to the University of Westminster.

Our daughter started at the school in 2020, right at the height of the pandemic. Part of her studies were done remotely, so the review will mostly be about the teachers and the academic program. We liked that the staff were able to set up the distance learning system in such a short time. There were almost no glitches. Of course, our daughter had just started her studies, came home for the holidays, and then had to stay because the children were switched to remote learning. She really wanted to go back to the boarding house to her friends. After a month, she was able to return, and at the end of the trimester, they recalculated the boarding fees, which was nice because I know not all schools did that.

I have mixed feelings about the school. We wanted to choose a traditional school for our child, one with mostly local students. It turned out that the school itself does have quite a lot of local children. But the boarding house is entirely international. The academic preparation is average. The staff are genuinely invested in making sure the children are comfortable and that there are no conflicts or bullying. During our time there, we never had any conflicts with the staff.

We visited this school, so I'll leave a comment too, in case it helps someone. Overall, the school left a positive impression after our visit. The boarding house staff seemed very kind and welcoming. The school has been nicely renovated, with spacious classrooms and rooms where the children live. But we didn't choose this option because of the location. Our child insisted on studying in a big city, so in the end we chose an option in Cambridge.
