Rose of York London Language School has taught English to international students since 1989. Its programs include General English, Business English, IELTS and Cambridge exam preparation, English for Specific Purposes in aviation, law, medicine, media and marketing, and banking and finance, CLIL teacher training, and university preparation courses. Students can strengthen their English skills while learning about British life and London's culture.

The school is regularly inspected by the British Council and has maintained its accreditation. It is also a member of English UK and a registered exam center for Trinity College London exams.

Teachers are qualified, experienced professionals who have taught English as a foreign language for many years and continue to develop their teaching skills. Courses support individual learning goals and cover core language skills. Students can add Booster Classes in conversation, pronunciation, writing, business proficiency, and exam skills to their General English course.

Rose of York is a small boutique school where students receive individual attention from teachers and staff. Its University Placement Service, offered in partnership with UK universities, includes UCAS application assistance, interview preparation, and direct university referrals.

Accommodation is available for 1 to 44 weeks, and most students stay for about three weeks. The minimum age for accommodation is 12.

• Host family.

Living with a host family gives students an opportunity to experience everyday life and British culture while practicing conversational English. B&B and half-board options are available. Students of the same nationality are generally placed with different families to encourage the use of English. The school regularly monitors host families. Each student has a private room with a comfortable bed, suitable lighting, a desk and chair, and storage space. Clean bedding and towels are provided weekly, and students can use laundry facilities at least once a week. When a student is under 18, all adults in the household undergo Enhanced DBS checks. Safeguarding measures for minors also include curfews.

• Student residence.

Student residences suit independent and sociable students who want to practice English and meet people from around the world. Residences are supervised 24 hours a day and include equipped kitchens, laundry facilities, free high-speed wireless internet, and shared living areas. Room options include studios with a private bathroom and kitchen, en-suite rooms with a private bathroom, and single rooms.

• Hostel.

Hostels are a lower-cost option for students on short-term courses and provide opportunities to practice conversational English. Most available hostels are in Zone 1, keeping travel time to the school relatively short.

Twin and double rooms are available only to students traveling together and enrolled in the same course. A high-season surcharge applies in July and August.

Rose of York offers a social program for enrolled students, with opportunities to explore London and meet other students outside the classroom.

Young Learner programs include afternoon trips to tourist sites and museums, as well as games and competitions. Students under 14 are accompanied at all times. Students aged 14 and older may travel independently with parental consent.

Our light, modern and comfortable classrooms are furnished to a high standard. Additionally, we provide computers and interactive whiteboards in designated areas. Students enjoy spacious classrooms with clear views to all whiteboards. We design our classrooms to encourage student-focused learning.

A peaceful and well-resourced library and an internet café is available to our students. In light of this, students have access to a wide range of books, and DVDs. Additionally, our internet café has computers available. Rose of York creates a relaxing environment where our students can explore the internet or simply relax and watch TV.

A students’ common room is available. Every Wednesday we offer a tea party where students can get together and relax. Additionally, we have a lovely outdoor terrace. Here students can have lunch, relax and continue to socialise with friends.

Equally important, Rose of York offers free access to Wi-Fi throughout the school. We encourage the use of internet for homework assignments and self-study. However, unless allowed by the teacher, we do not allow the use of internet in classrooms. Ask in reception for access details.

Rose of York London Language School closes during the Christmas holidays and UK bank holidays.

Course prices depend on the selected course and its intensity and are quoted per person per week. Course schedules range from the 10-hour-per-week Standard course to the 35-hour-per-week Super Intensive course.

• Minimum age: 16 for standard courses and 12 for Young Learner programs,
