  • Duration of studying – 3 weeks.
  • The language of instruction is English.

The program is designed for teenagers aged 14-18 who want to develop leadership skills, improve communication skills, and learn how to work effectively in a team. It is designed for both those who already have leadership experience and beginners who want to develop their potential.

The Global Leadership Program at CISS Vancouver Camp aims to develop the key skills teens need to be a successful leader in today's environment. It combines theory and practice, allowing adolescents to orient themselves in the context and skillfully apply the knowledge gained in real life situations.

Key aspects include:

  • Communication skills, the development of effective communication, the ability to listen and convey your ideas.
  • Teamwork, learning to cooperate, assign roles and responsibilities.
  • Critical thinking, analysis of situations, making informed decisions.
  • Project management: planning, organizing and implementing projects from idea to completion.

Classes  combine lectures and theoretical classes with seminars and workshops: teenagers, under the guidance of experienced teachers, analyze cases, participate in simulations and role-playing games to learn how to apply the knowledge gained in practice. Much attention is paid to project work - the development and presentation of one's own project in the group. Feedback plays a very important role — students discuss their achievements and try to understand what and how can be improved.

Each week, participants will have 20 hours of academic classes aimed at speaking practice, including improving pronunciation, fluency and confidence in using English, listening (listening comprehension, working with audio materials), reading and writing, learning new words and fixed expressions in context, mastering new grammatical structures.

The program also includes special workshops that help students develop important soft skills: creativity (through participation in creative tasks and projects), critical thinking, leadership and teamwork, and actions in crisis situations. In addition, working on group projects, preparing essays and reports, discussions and debates help to better master the material and learn to use the language in everyday practical situations.

Activities CISS Summer Vancouver

The summer program of the camp is not limited to intensive study - it is also unique excursion and entertainment activities, making the learning process exciting and unforgettable. Each week at the camp involves new trips, cultural discoveries and activities, allowing students to immerse themselves in Canadian life as they make the most of Canadian life – they travel around Vancouver and its surroundings, exploring world-famous attractions, natural parks and cultural centers.

Weekends are featured by full-day sightseeing tours, which gives the children enough time to get acquainted with the city, nature and history of the region. You can choose from:

  • Sightseeing tours of Vancouver, including a walk along the famous Coal Harbour, a visit to the historic Gastown with the famous steam clock, and the bohemian Granville Island - a favorite place for the Canadian creative intelligentsia and tourists: here life goes on in its own, alluring rhythm, the rhythms of music are constantly heard, street artists perform,
  • A trip to Whistler Village with a must-see tour of the main resort of the 2010 Winter Olympics, where you can ski or take the PEAK 2 PEAK funicular to the top of the mountain for a spectacular selfie,
  • An anthropological museum that allows you to get acquainted with the history and art of the indigenous peoples of Canada, explore countless artifacts and real Indian totem poles, and buy souvenirs.

Twice a week, there are shorter excursions and trips designed to help teenagers relax after a hard academic day. Camp students can:

  • See the Capilano Suspension Bridge, one of the most popular tourist sites in the country, hovering above the water at a height of seventy meters,
  • Climb Mount Grouse (just think about it: a panoramic view of the capital of British Columbia from a height of more than a kilometer!),
  • Go to the beach of Kitsilano and spend an evening on the coast, play beach volleyball, swim or lie on the white sand,
  • Go to Granville Island, in the heart of Vancouver's cultural life, visit the center of crafts and street art, walk through the famous fish market, taste delicacies at affordable prices, look into a historic café or cinema.

It's not limited to excursions — after classes on campus, students will have an equally rich program. Cultural and themed nights such as National Costume Day, Canadian Culture Nights, karaoke and amateur nights are invariably popular, as well as movie nights with indispensable discussions. It is customary to meet new students here at the Welcome Party: during the Show & Tell, they tell their peers from different countries about their culture, customs and traditions of the countries from which they came.

Sports and team games are regularly held on campus: football, basketball and volleyball tournaments between students from different countries, open-air fitness and yoga classes, interactive orienteering quests that help to better explore the territory.
