Istituto Marangoni Milano
Marangoni Institute, founded in 1935, was the first private-format educational institution in Europe to specialize in clothing design. In those years, Parisian couturiers invariably set the basics of fashion trends, but already in the 40s, when the Istituto Marangoni institute released the first flow of students, the situation changed: France had a worthy competitor in the design and fashion industry. The founder of the university, Giulio Marangoni, always considered fashion not only an expression of the designer’s creative intention, but created clothes to serve people in the first place. This view formed the basis of the educational concept of the Italian institute, therefore, special attention is paid to technical studies: each student learns all the subtleties of the production process in order to be able to create a costume from scratch.

What do a foreign student need to enter design programs abroad?
Foreign students need a certificate of secondary education. The Foundation program or preparatory courses at the university will directly help prepare for admission to a design university.
The list of required documents may vary by college or university. At the same time, there are points that are mandatory for candidates from other countries: for example, in addition to the questionnaire and essay, foreign students need to have a certificate of passing language tests ( IELTS, TOEFL ), a certificate of secondary education translated into English, and also a portfolio of works depending on the chosen specialty.
In addition, when entering Japanese universities, you will need to take a test of Japanese proficiency, but in Italy, usually English is enough. Also, the admissions committee of some universities may ask students for SAT results.
