Democracy, individualism, monotheism, architectural proportion, musical harmony: all these concepts were first developed by the classical civilizations of ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Israel, Greece and Rome. As a classics major, you will examine ancient literature, art, philosophy and government, focusing on how ideas dating from classical times still affect the modern world; you will also have the opportunity to study the Greek, Latin and Hebrew languages. You will learn to appreciate the complexity and timelessness of classical thought, and you will develop analytical, critical and communications skills that will prepare you for a wide range of careers.
A small cozy Beechwood Sacred Heart (Beechwood Sacred Heart School) works on a system of joint (mixed) education and provides children of 3-18 years with a full educational cycle on the national educational system of Great Britain: from the younger Classes to the Sixth Form graduation classes.
The school is known primarily for its warm, family, friendly atmosphere - thanks to its small size and Limited classes, every child here can receive the necessary amount of personal attention, care and warmth. Until 2008, only girls were studying here: today the school welcomes joint education, but residences are still reserved only for young ladies (although the boys' housing is already under construction and will soon be put into operation).
Foreign students with an insufficient level of English can first pass a preliminary course of the Pre-Examination Program lasting 1-2 trimester. This is an excellent program, combining intensive English courses and studying the main subjects of the school curriculum - after its completion the student is ready to enter the GCSE and A-level programs along with the other students. Also there are special programs for teaching children with difficulties - for example, with dyslexia or dipraxia.
