This course is recommended for international students who feel insecure when studying in a language other than their native language: it will quickly and effectively improve their language level in order to increase the productivity of their studies. The program can adapt to each student, his basic level and skills; the main accents are spoken language and grammar.

Description of The American College in Spain

The American College in Spain (ACS) is a university center providing foreign students with the opportunity to pass a university program of 1-2 courses in Spain followed by admission to a university in the US or Canada.

It is the first North American High School & University in Andalusia. Located in the town of Marbella (Málaga) since 2013.

The American College in Spain offers a curriculum based on the U.S. education system. The aim of the two-year program is to provide international students with deep basic knowledge. On the 1-2 course students pass several common subjects. Educational system is modular or credit, as is customary in the US. Students can graduate from Marbella with 2 years of high school (grades 7 and 8), 4 years of high school (grades 9-12), and then begin their first 2 years at university by completing general education courses, which is required by all US universities. After completing these 2 years of college, students receive an Associate of Arts Degree from Broward College, which is recognized and accepted worldwide.

After graduation from college, students can enroll in a selected institution in America for translation. Most universities in Spain accept graduates with credits for their loans. After completing a full cycle of study, students can earn a full bachelor's degree:

  • BA (Bachelor of Arts),
  • BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration),
  • BSc (Bachelor of Science).

You can go to college for several programs. The Associate of Arts Degree requires 60 credits in general education courses: communications, mathematics, social and behavioral sciences, humanities and natural sciences, and electives. In the first year, courses in oral communication and introduction to computer technology are required.

For students who combine their studies with professional or semi-professional athletics, the college offers an individualized class format and flexible scheduling, academic advising, and tutoring support to help athletes manage their time effectively.

The academic English language program, designed for international students, includes 18 classroom hours per week over 12–14 weeks, with classes taught by native-speaking instructors. The course is tailored to the student's level and is built around reading, writing, grammar, and speaking.

Perspectives

Credits earned at The American College in Spain are accepted by other institutions: American universities generally accept credits from accredited educational institutions provided the course was passed with a grade of C or higher. General education courses in the Associate of Arts Degree program must also be completed with a grade of C or higher.

When planning a transfer, the requirements of the receiving institution must be taken into account: some universities stipulate that a certain portion of coursework and the major's core requirements must be completed directly at the degree-granting institution, which limits the number of transferable credits.
