Ural State Medical University (USMU) is the only medical university in the Sverdlovsk region that produces doctors, pharmacists, and one of the few universities that do not have other specialties.
USMU was opened for admission of applicants in 1931. During the Great Patriotic War, the institution worked, despite the departure of many teachers to the front. Students combined their studies with part-time work in hospitals. A few decades later, in 2013, the university receives its current name, the number of students exceeds 7,000 people (specialist, residency).

Dormitories are inhabited by non-resident, foreign students studying full-time, as well as applicants passing entrance tests.
About 1600 students live on campus. The buildings are equipped with rooms for 2-4 people, rooms for self-preparation, kitchens, showers and toilets on each floor. There are no canteens, buffets in the buildings. Each building of the campus is under the guidance of student councils.
The monthly cost of living does not exceed 1100 rubles. per person.

Facilities and equipment at Ural State Medical University
The campus of the university is located in Yekaterinburg, clinical bases for practices are located in Asbest, Krasnoturinsk, Syserti, Berezovsky and other nearby cities. Classes are held in classrooms, computer classes, laboratories and sports facilities. Students can spend their free time in assembly halls, a library and a reading room, sports and gyms, studios prepared for creativity.
Since 2010, the Multidisciplinary Accreditation and Simulation Center has been operating under the leadership of the university, where students can use dummies, phantoms, virtual reality equipment: patient simulator robots, laparoscopic racks, etc.
For sports activities at the university, the work of sports and gyms is organized. Some sites are rented, some belong to the university. At the university there is a ski base, where in winter students compete in cross-country skiing and spend their free time.
On school days, students can visit canteens, buffets in the buildings, if necessary, medical centers, a dental clinic.

There are two semesters in the academic year, two sessions after each of them. The education lasts from September to the end of May - the beginning of June, classes are held from Monday to Friday, sometimes on Saturday. Holidays are provided on public holidays, in January and July-August.
