The Institute was founded in 1929 in the city of Yekaterinburg: it is the only educational institution of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the Asian part of Russia.

The educational process takes place on the basis of 4 educational campuses, equipped with classrooms for lectures and seminars.
