The University of Minnesota Morris is a public liberal arts college that offers quality education. As part of the University of Minnesota system, the college enjoys worldwide recognition, has access to state-of-the-art research centers, nationally recognized study abroad programs.

The University of Minnesota Morris settled on lands first inhabited by the Anisinaabe and Dakota peoples. The first buildings on campus housed a boarding school for American Indians, first run by the Order of the Sisters of Mercy of the Catholic Church and then by the United States Government. The school closed in 1909, and the campus was transferred to the state of Minnesota on the condition that American Indian students "will be admitted to such a school free of charge at any time," a policy that is still in place today.

In September 1960, the University of Minnesota Morris opened its doors as an affordable, small community liberal arts college for undergraduate students.

Each dormitory of the University of Minnesota Morris has furnished halls for study and leisure, kitchens. There are recreation areas equipped with gaming tables, vending machines, washing machines, dryers.
