University of Wilhelm Leibniz, Hannover (University of Hannover, abbreviation - LUH) - one of the largest universities in Lower Saxony. Studentenwerk operates 20 student residence halls in Hanover, some of them close to the universities. To live in one, a student must be enrolled at one of Hanover’s universities. Almost all rooms are furnished, and many offer inexpensive high-speed internet access.

Another option is a shared flat, where residents usually share a kitchen and bathroom. Rooms in shared flats tend to cost more than comparable rooms in student residence halls, but they generally offer a more personal, home-like atmosphere. The private market also offers furnished and partially furnished rooms, including short-term sublets.

The International Office offers free housing-search assistance to exchange students from abroad, international doctoral candidates and postdocs, visiting researchers, and Hannover Modell participants. Help is available before or after arrival in Hanover but is not offered to trainees. The service does not guarantee accommodation, so applicants should also search independently.

The university is considered to be a major university, as it receives the education of more than 23,000 entrants. Both local residents and foreign citizens can study here.
