The University was founded in 1931 in the city of Izhevsk, is engaged in the education of qualified workers at the level of bachelor's, specialist's, master's and postgraduate studies.

The learning process includes a course of lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory classes, educational and pre-diploma practice.

• Morphobiological substantiation of adaptive technologies for the cultivation of grain crops;
• Ways to improve the efficiency of fodder crop cultivation and procurement of high-quality feed;
• Selection and adaptive technologies for the cultivation of fiber flax and oilseed flax;
• Research and development of technological requirements and elements of electrical devices, technological installations for crop and livestock production, storage and processing of products;
• The use of advanced electrical technologies in the agro-industrial complex;
• Crop fertilization systems in the Middle Urals.

The university newspaper "My Academy" won the All-Russian competition "For the best periodical printed publication of higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia" in the category "Scientific Research".

For nonresident full-time students, the university provides 7 dormitories of both corridor and block type. The total number of residential places is 1800.

For meals for students and staff, the university has 3 canteens and 3 buffets for 386 seats in total.

To involve students in social and scientific activities, the university organizes and takes part in the following events:

The education takes place on the basis of 5 buildings equipped with classrooms for lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory work. The classrooms are equipped with modern technology: projectors, screens, laptops, computers and electronic whiteboards. 

The university has a large library system, which includes 10 library points throughout the university. The total number of seats in the reading rooms is 122.

For sports activities the university has the following facilities:

At UtSAU, the learning process is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each, an examination session is held, after passing the students, they are given vacations (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).
