TOP-10 most inaccessible places to travel

TOP-10 most inaccessible places to travel

Not in every region of the Earth you can find a tourist. Places remote from civilization, territories with a harsh climate, and an unfavorable political situation are not very popular. However, there are people who want to go where it is almost impossible to get there. Here is a list of 10 places classified
to hard to reach.

Turkmenistan

The dictatorship of the country's government is often compared to North Korea, only getting to the DPRK is easier than to Turkmenistan. The president of the latter equally banned tourists from any country from entering the territory of the state, while it is also impossible for the Turkmen to go abroad.

There is no question of getting to Turkmenistan, but getting out of it is quite. There used to be a loophole - a transit visa, allowing through Iran to get to visa-free Uzbekistan. There is no such thing now.

Ascension Island

A piece of land in the South Atlantic. The territory falls under British sovereignty and is under the protection of the United Kingdom Army. At the same time, the volcanic island is not included in its territory.

The visa policy on the island is selective. Tourists from countries not included in the Black List are allowed to enter the territory of the state. The list includes 13 items, 3 of which are Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. This is due to the location on the island of a British-American military base, a NASA laboratory and the European Space Agency.

You can get to the island by Atlantic cruises. Weather permitting, there is an opportunity to admire birds, turtles, colonial architecture and “the world's poorest golf course” (holes on a volcanic sand field).

Gaza Strip

A narrow strip of land between Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea. In 2005, the Israeli army and all the inhabitants of the territory left the site. The 2006 elections and the ensuing civil war transferred power into the hands of Islamic fundamentalists, who immediately began to attack Israeli borders. Therefore, by joining forces, Israel and Egypt constantly arrange blockades of the Gaza Strip (land, sea and air).

After complicated procedures, only journalists, diplomatic workers and representatives of humanitarian missions are allowed to enter the territory.

North Sentinel Island

The Andaman Islands are ruled by Indian authorities. The archipelago with magnificent jungles and bounty beaches for tourists opens at most a couple of dozen for a long stay and a couple more for a one-day visit.

The Nicobar and Andaman Islands are special in that they are still inhabited by indigenous peoples. Some of the tribes have already slightly touched the civilized world, but the Indian authorities are concerned about the bad influence of modernity on the traditional way of life of the aborigines (alcohol, tobacco, mixing blood). To prevent their disappearance, the Indian government has established reservations in the areas where the indigenous people live and restricted movement in these areas.

The most dangerous of the islands is still North Sentinel. The natives here are so aggressive that, despite the first peaceful contact in the 90s, they still do not like outsiders.

Chagos Island

Mauritius and Chagos during the time of the colonialists always passed from one owner to another. Until the 18th century, they were uninhabited. The first inhabitants of Chagos were African slaves and Indian wage laborers. When Britain captured Mauritius, it became the owner of two islands at once.

Now there is a military base on the island of Chagos, so the entire population of the island is its workers. Tourists are not brought here. But if you really want to walk along the snow-white Chagos beaches, you will have to try pretty hard: get permission to visit, hire a private boat and sail on it from the Maldives.

Sahara Arab Democratic Republic

Western Sahara is actually divided by three states. They get to the Moroccan Western Sahara from Morocco, to the Moorish - on foot from Nouadhibou.

The independent SADR is more difficult to visit. She is still at war with Morocco. They even built a "wall" (a three-meter embankment) between them with barbed wire, sensor systems and military posts. The entire area along the front line is mined. By the way, the "wall" is considered the largest minefield on the planet.

In general, there are two ways to safely visit SADR:

  • become a member of a charity tour
  • walk on a piece of the desert called "No Man's Land".

Somalia

For 35 years there has been military action in Somalia. Getting to the capital of Mogadishu and not being kidnapped by barmaley is problematic, so all tourists are located in a separate area surrounded by concrete blocks, guarded by soldiers. This reduces the likelihood of being attacked by suicide motorists. Most often they come here on special tours.

Azavad

Until 2012, this region was very popular with Africans. Everyone wanted to see the picturesque clay settlements and the UNESCO monument - the city of Timbuktu. After the next uprising of the Tuareg and Islamists, tourists stopped coming: the current situation allows you to come here only on a rented plane and surrounded by guards.

Principality of Sealand

A British platform that was built to defend against the Third Reich. Now there is no tourism in Sealand, but the state sells Sealand certificates, titles of nobility and other souvenirs to replenish the treasury.

Heard Island and McDonald Islands

The uninhabited islands in the southern Indian Ocean are some of the most inaccessible in the world. And the point is not only that this is a UNESCO World Heritage Marine Reserve, but also in its remoteness (two weeks among the expedition participants only one way). But if you dare, you can see an active volcano, penguins and the remains of seal hunter settlements.
