Since its opening in 2010, the British School in Tashkent has become a respected and respectable educational institution that enjoys the respect of the parent community both inside and outside the country, a kind of stronghold of international education in the Central Asian region. He is a member of the close family of Nord Anglia Education, an association of 77 schools in dozens of countries on five continents. It offers high-class classical English education of international class for children aged one and a half to eighteen years - from kindergarten to grade 12 of secondary school.

Along with education under the British system, BST is the only school in the country and, in all likelihood, in the world that offers students a mixed Anglo-Uzbek educational system.

Educational process

Students demonstrate outstanding academic results, which is confirmed by the results of testing: students in 2021/2022 achieved 95.6% of passing scores on  A Levels  and 96.6% of passing scores on AS Levels, which is almost twice as high as similar indicators in SCHOOLS in the UK.

The school closely cooperates with the Juilliard School; teachers underwent internships and education in New York, within the walls of BST education was implemented in all three areas - music, dance, dramatic arts.

The school also cooperates with MIT in the framework of education in the direction of STEAM; students have the opportunity to visit the campuses of Harvard University and MIT, attend lectures of famous scientists with a worldwide reputation, and feel the academic spirit.

Accommodation, meals, prices

The school consists of two campuses - Sayram and Kalandar, located on the streets of the same name:

  • Sayram is intended for kindergarten and students up to and including the second grade,
  • Kalandar is for older students.

Both campuses are modern buildings with an efficient and thoughtful layout, making the most of the integration of the school's interior and exterior spaces and equipped with age-appropriate play, recreational and learning areas.

The Kalandar campus, which opened its doors in the autumn of 2017, is one of the most modern secondary educational institutions in the city. It includes:

  • 4 laboratories of various profiles;

  • Canteen and buffet;
  • A theatre and an assembly hall capable of accommodating all students;
  • 2 swimming pools;
  • 3 sports halls;

Meals are organized at the school, including breakfast, a full lunch and an afternoon snack. Cooking is carried out on the basis of the food plant, in agreement with the administration, it is possible to draw up an individual menu for religious, medical or other indications.

When enrolling in a school, students are assigned to one of 4 houses: Vikings, Romans, Normans and Saxons (BST is the only school in Uzbekistan where this model is practiced). Gender balance is maintained within the houses.

The cost of meals is 5 162 000 soums per trimester.

Activities The British School of Tashkent – BST

Extracurricular education is considered one of the priorities of local school life, the key to the harmonious development of the personality of students. The school has organized a large selection of clubs (more than 40 items in total). Classes are held after the lessons and are provided on a non-profit basis. Among them:

Outside of school hours, the school administration organizes tourist trips to the historical cities of Uzbekistan, including Samarkand, Merv, Khiva, Bukhara (included in the payment price), as well as foreign trips to the United States, Europe and Asia (paid separately).

Facilities and equipment at The British School of Tashkent – BST

Classrooms are equipped with the latest technology and meet the norms and standards of the English national curriculum. Children have access to interactive whiteboards, students in grades 7-8 receive tablets, and grades 9-12 get MacBook laptops with individual programs.

The local library is equipped with specialized reading areas, computers with Internet access and a rich library in Uzbek, English and Russian languages.

Admission dates and extra charges

Uzbek citizens pay for tuition in the national currency, while foreigners have the opportunity to use US dollars as a means of payment (at the rate of the Central Bank of the country). Payment can be made both in cash and by bank transfers, as well as by other means).

Both a one-time payment once a year and a trimester payment are permissible, in accordance with the approved payment schedule. During the academic year, the course fee is subject to change.

The course price includes access to all the resources of the educational institution, meals, excursions to the sights of Uzbekistan. The purchase of the uniform is carried out for a fee.

The annual fee varies depending on the age of the student and ranges from 76.08 million soums for a kindergarten of 1/2 day and preschool groups and up to 173.7 million soums per year of study.

Enrolment process

An application for admission to the school should be sent electronically through a special application form on the website. The questionnaire sent through the selection committee will also be considered in the general order.

In addition to the application, the following must be attached:

  • A signed copy of the declaration;
  • Timesheet with marks from the previous educational institution;
  • Entrance fee.

After the application is submitted and properly processed, representatives of the school will contact the parents and offer to meet and examine the child. Exams are conducted in the form of testing, their results are reported within a few days.

Perspectives

The school issues citizens of Uzbekistan with a certificate of completion of the 9th grade within the framework of the national educational system, while under the British system, children continue to study until the 11th grade. After passing the A-level, graduates have the opportunity to enter a higher education institution in any country in the world in which a British diploma is valued.
