S.O. Makarov State University of Management is a higher technical educational institution, the purpose of which is to train highly qualified personnel for the transport infrastructure of the Russian Federation. To date, GUMRF is one of the largest educational institutions in the North-West of the country.

THE MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THE FMRF are as follows:

• Implementation of educational programs of higher, secondary vocational and additional vocational education;

The university actively conducts research activities, scientific conferences and seminars are held. SUMRF publishes the scientific journal "Vestnik", founded in 2008. "Vestnik" is a periodical and is included in the List of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of doctors and candidates of science are published.

GUMRF is a member of 9 international associations and has more than 20 Russian and foreign partner companies of the maritime sector of the economy.

GUMRF provides accommodation in dormitories equipped with canteens and buffets. Educational buildings also provide students and employees of the university with hot meals.

About 20,000 students and cadets are trained in higher and secondary vocational education programmes at SUMRF.

To date, SUMRF trains 350 foreign cadets and students from 39 countries.

For graduates of the university, a department of student practices is organized, the purpose of which is to promote the employment of young specialists:

• the "Employers' Vacancy Database" and the "University Alumni Database" are created and regularly updated;
• work is underway on admission, questionnaires and career guidance counseling of students and graduates;
• regular presentations of employing companies and seminars for students on career building and successful employment;

THE FMRF actively participates in conferences, seminars, exhibitions, job fairs and other events that contribute to the employment of graduates. In order to organize temporary employment of students, the availability of temporary jobs at enterprises for part-time work in their free time is analyzed, and the admission of students for temporary work in the summer is organized.

Applicants with secondary general, secondary vocational or higher education, confirmed by the relevant document, are allowed to study at THE SUMRF.
