State Music and Pedagogical Institute named after M. M. Ippolitov-Ivanov, GMPI

The history of the institute begins in 1919. At the moment, GMPI is one of the leading professional musical and pedagogical educational institutions in Moscow and Russia. The Institute is among those who determine the leading level of musical and performing education along with the dominant conservatories of Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Gnessin Academy of Music in the world of classical music in Russia.

The Institute provides educational services on the basis of the following faculties:

• instrumental performing arts;
• vocal, choral and conducting training;
• historical-theoretical-composer and general humanitarian training.

Teachers at the Institute are People's and Honored Artists of the Russian Federation, composers who are known both in Russia and abroad. A distinctive feature of the GMPI can be considered the professional training of the orchestra's musicians, who in the future have the opportunity to work in well-known orchestras in Russia. Students of the Institute in large numbers and unselfishly perform in various boarding schools and orphanages, for the elderly and the elderly in hospitals, in educational institutions and in museums, are engaged in charity not only in the city of Moscow and the Moscow region, but also in other regions of the Russian Federation. 

Currently, the following events are organized at the GMPI:

• Together with the Russian Performing Arts Foundation, an original concert production of the mono-opera "The Human Voice" by F. Poulenc;
• Together with the Russian Performing Arts Foundation, the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and the Union of Moscow Composers, the Moscow Festival of Classical and Contemporary Music;
• Festival "Hippolyte Choral Spring";
• Shostakovich International Competition for Chamber Ensembles and Piano Duets;
• All-Russian Scientific Symposium "Music in the System of Intercultural Communications at the Turn of the XX-XXI Centuries";
• Interuniversity Competition of Young Lecturers;
• Edition of chamber vocal works by M. M. Ippolitov-Ivanov;
• Project "International Music Academy "Master Class".

The entire educational process takes place in one building, the total area of which is 4000 sq.m. The university has rooms for lectures and classrooms for self-study, there is a computer class and a piano class with electronic pianos. For training are available:

• Studio for choreographic classes;
• Opera performance class;
• Classrooms for theoretical classes;
• Two concert halls: Big and White, intended for rehearsals. 

All rooms have modern technical equipment, new musical instruments and props for performances , concert and rehearsal halls are equipped with high-quality concert and sound equipment .   
Students have access to the library and reading room, throughout the institute there is access to free Internet. 

When studying at GMPI, the student assumes the following additional expenses:

For admission to the GMPI, the applicant must provide the following list of documents: 

• Identity document, citizenship;
• State-issued document on education and qualifications;
• A document confirming registration in the individual accounting system (if any);

• Photography.

The documents that are necessary for admission are sent to the Institute in one of the following ways:

More than 90 students entered the budgetary form of education in 2022. 

The percentage of employed graduates of the State Music and Pedagogical Institute is 95%. To employ its graduates, the Institute cooperates with the following organizations:

For admission to educational programs of secondary vocational training, an applicant needs a completed education not lower than the basic general one.

To enter the educational programs of bachelor's and specialist's degree, the student must:

• Completed education not lower than secondary general;
• Use scores not lower:

• Russian language — 67;
• Literature — 53.

• Points obtained on the basis of the results of entrance examinations conducted by the Institute are not lower:
  • Creative Challenge – 50;
  • Professional test — 40;
  • Interview — 50. 

For admission to postgraduate programs it is necessary:

• Completed higher education;
• Scores for entrance examinations not lower:

• Profile entrance test — 4;
• Entrance test in philosophy – 3;
• Entrance test in a foreign language – 3.
