St. Petersburg Theological Academy of the Russian Orthodox Church

The St. Petersburg Theological Academy is one of the oldest educational institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Academy preserves the traditional education of future pastors and promotes the introduction of modern methods in traditional fields of study.

The implementation of the educational program at the Academy provides for the following formats: lectures, practical and seminar classes, extracurricular activities.

The Academy includes the following departments:

• ecclesiastical music and pedagogical disciplines,
• ancient languages,
• ecclesiastical history,
• Biblical Studies,
• Theology
• ecclesiastical and practical disciplines,
• foreign languages.

On the basis of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, its own publishing agency operates, on a regular basis the following are published:

• Materials of scientific and theological conferences and forums,
• Scientific journal "Christian Reading",
• Scientific journal "Russian-Byzantine Bulletin", etc.

Pupils and teachers of the Academy regularly publish their works in the journals of the university, participate in conferences, readings and forums of various levels.

The Academy was founded in 1809, but the history of the origin of the educational institution begins in 1721.

Pupils of the Academy live in 4 buildings, no accommodation fee is charged. Comfortable conditions for living and studying have been created for pupils.

Meals are organized in the dining room of the Academy.

Particular attention at the Academy is paid to the spiritual and cultural development of pupils: students regularly visit museums, conservatories and other cultural institutions.

The Academy has modern computer equipment, classrooms are equipped with multimedia equipment and educational and visual materials.

On the territory of the Academy there are:

At the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. The school year begins in the first half of September. The educational sessions are held according to the schedule of a six-day working week. The beginning of classes is in accordance with the schedule of study groups.

At the end of each semester, an examination session is held. Students are provided with vacation weekends: winter (January) and summer (July-August).

Acceptance of documents for full-time education at the Academy begins on June 20 of the current year. At the same time, an applicant can apply for 2 areas of study. Deadlines for accepting documents for state-funded places:

• Until July 7 - for persons entering on the basis of the results of entrance examinations conducted by the academy independently;
• Until July 25 - for persons applying for the results of the exam.

The publication of the enrollment order is August 3.

Today, more than 200 people study at the Seminary. There are 75 state-funded places.
