St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine (SPbSUVM) is the oldest institution that educates specialists in the field of veterinary medicine.

The Veterinary Academy, founded in 1808, was the original educational institution that served as the basis for the current SPbSUVM. The university originally consisted of six laboratories, but now it has several faculties:

  • Department of Advanced Training.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Accommodation is available for full-time and part-time students, but part-time students can only stay in the dormitory during the session.

The residential building is located in the Frunzensky district near the metro station "Kupchino". The nine-storey building consists of blocks with rooms, common kitchens, showers and toilets. Two or three students can be accommodated in one room. At the entrance to the building, the access regime is observed, the hostel is under protection and video surveillance.

The university annually hosts exhibitions of the history of veterinary medicine, expositions of scientific discoveries, student achievements.

Students of the university are engaged in volunteer work in the agricultural detachment, at social actions in local shelters.

Facilities and equipment at St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine — SPbSUVM

The campus of the university is located near the metro station "Moskovskiye Vorota". The main building was built in 1874 as an almshouse of the Craft Society, the buildings of the laboratories also belonged to charitable institutions. At the moment, the entire complex of buildings is included in the register of cultural heritage sites of the country.

The educational process takes place in equipped classrooms, laboratories, arenas for practice, sports and gyms. Specialized museums have been created at several departments: anatomy, parasitology, veterinary and sanitary expertise. In extracurricular time, students can visit the library with a reading room, where there is access to many volumes of scientific literature, electronic databases.

SPbSUAM has a multifunctional veterinary center and a laboratory where residents of St. Petersburg can examine their pets.

Admission dates and extra charges

The academic year is two semesters of 4-6 months. Studies last from September to early June. Classes are held from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:30 with breaks of 10-30 minutes. Holidays are organized in winter and summer, as well as on public holidays.
