Sretensky Theological Academy is a modern higher theological education. Within the walls of the SDA, future pastors of the Russian Orthodox Church are educated and trained. Students of the Academy take a direct part in the life of the Sretensky monastery, comprehend the depth and richness of genuine church life.

The implementation of the educational program in the SDA provides for the following formats: lectures, practical and seminar classes, extracurricular activities.

Things to know about

Every year, students of the Sretensky Academy visit the Arkhangelsk and Vologda dioceses during the vacation weekend for the restoration of churches in the Russian North. All students of the Academy during their studies have been on pilgrimage to the Holy Land at least once.

Activities Sretensky Theological Academy of the Russian Orthodox Church

Student life in the SDA educates future pastors to be ready for church service. Students of the Academy attend worship services, lectures and seminars, engage in creative work and independently study church science in the library.

Students take part in traditional trips to the Russian North. In addition, young people sing in the Academic Choir.

Advantages

Young people studying at the Academy live in the dormitory of the university. The total number of seats is 150. Accommodation fees are not charged to pupils.

Meals for students are provided in the dining room (refectory of the Candlemas Church).

Facilities and equipment at Sretensky Theological Academy of the Russian Orthodox Church

The Academy is located in the center of Moscow next to the Candlemas Church. Classrooms are equipped with modern multimedia equipment and educational and visual materials. The Academy also has a gym, a library and a medical center.

Admission dates and extra charges

At the Academy, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. The school year begins in the first half of September. Training sessions are held according to the schedule of a six-day working week. The beginning of classes is in accordance with the schedule of study groups.

At the end of each semester, an examination session is held. Students are provided with vacation weekends: winter (January) and summer (July-August).

Enrolment process

Acceptance of documents for full-time education in the SDA begins on June 20 of the current year. At the same time, an applicant can apply for 2 areas of study. Deadlines for accepting documents for state-funded places:

  • Until July 20 - for persons entering on the basis of the results of entrance examinations conducted by the academy independently;
  • Until July 25 - for persons applying for the results of the exam.

The deadline for accepting documents is August 3.

  • Confirmation of individual achievements, the results of which are taken into account when admitting.
