Smolensk Orthodox Theological Seminary, SPDS

The learning process includes a course of lectures and seminars, the passage of industrial (missionary and pedagogical) practice.

The educational process is organized in the following divisions:

• Theological and ecclesiastical-historical disciplines,
• Humanities and natural sciences.

The educational institution publishes and publishes the journal "Theological Bulletin of the Smolensk Orthodox Theological Seminary".

SPDS is the first institution in Russia where they began to issue diplomas of higher spiritual education.

For nonresident full-time students, the university provides a dormitory for 40 places.

For meals for students and staff, the university has a canteen for 80 seats.

To involve students in social activities, the university organizes and takes part in the following events:

• Divine service on the 3rd Sunday after Penteday in the SPDS church,
• Prayers for the granting of victory at the column of crosses in Smolensk,
• Round Table "Principles of Adversariality and Accusatory in Church Proceedings: Combination of Elements, Trends, Prospects",
• All-Russian Scientific and Theological Conference.

The educational process takes place in one educational building, equipped with classrooms for lectures and seminars, a computer class. The institution has a personal server and two Internet lines.

Students are given unlimited access to the library system with a reading room for 50 seats.

For sports, the seminary has a sports hall.

At SPDS, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each of them, an examination session is held, after which students are given a vacation (in winter in January, in summer in July and August). In the middle of semesters (November, April), a control week is held.

For admission to the SPDS, you must provide:

• Proof of identity, citizenship,
• State-recognized certificate of education and qualifications,
• SNILS,
• Seminary Admission Form,
• Autobiography
• Baptismal Certificate,
• Military ID or registration certificate with a mark of military registration.

If a citizen comes from the Russian Orthodox Church, then the following are additionally provided:

• Recommendation of the ruling bishop or parish priest, certified by the ruling bishop,
• Certificate of consecration to the reader,
• Certificate of ordination to the priesthood,
• The last decree of the ruling bishop on the appointment to the parish,
• Certificate of tonsure,
• Certificate of registration and wedding of marriage.

If necessary, the applicant also provides:

• Proof of use of the right to admission within a special quota,
• Confirmation of individual achievements, the results of which are taken into account at admission,
• Proof of disability or disability.
• 2 photos 3x4 (if there is a dignity - in the appropriate clothes).

The necessary package of documents is provided to the university:

• By mail,
• In person to the admissions office,
• Through the electronic system of the organization,
• Through EPGU.

At the moment, more than 170 students are enrolled in the SDPS.

The seminary conducts practical classes for students in local temples, which provides employment opportunities in the future.

For admission to bachelor's and specialist's educational programs, an applicant must:

• Completed education not lower than secondary general,
• Passing a professional test with a score of at least 51,
• Points received for the exam are not lower than:
  • Russian language — 40,
  • History — 35,

The following types of scholarships are distinguished:

• State Academic,
• State social,
• of the President of the Russian Federation,
• Government of the Russian Federation,
• The name of Bishop Gideon of Smolensk.
