SEK Formentera – Tall-Ship Summer Camp

Formentera – Tall-Ship Camp is a unique chance to spend your summer vacation on a big ship in the Mediterranean! An exciting adventure will provide students with the opportunity to study marine biology, learn how to sail a yacht, tie special knots and, of course, get unforgettable emotions from their vacation.

All courses are held on the 50-metre schooner Cervantes Saavedra under the guidance of experienced professionals, teachers and staff. Children are always safe thanks to the round-the-clock supervision and assistance provided by the camp staff. At the end of the sea voyage, students will arrive in Madrid, the capital of Spain, and will be accommodated on a comfortable SEK El Castillo campus.

The programs include not only educational lessons, but also a lot of entertainment that will allow students to enjoy their vacation, gain new experience and knowledge.

The daily schedule of students includes a certain time to attend lectures, participate in group events, rest, and visit the canteen. Observing a clearly established schedule, children are not overloaded, they have time to rest.

During the sea voyage, students will live in 20 cabins, each of which is designed for two people, has a bathroom, air conditioning. The ship has all the necessary amenities, including a dining room that provides students with three meals a day.

At the end of their training on the water, students will arrive in Madrid, accommodated in the residence of the SEK El Castillo school, which offers comfortable rooms, private and shared bathrooms, recreation areas and other modern infrastructure for living, learning and all-round development.

The basis of the Formentera – Tall-Ship Camp courses are water activities, thematic lectures from professional sailors and biologists. In their free time, students will be able to indulge in their favorite hobby in the cabins or on deck, try their hand at diving and other sports possible on the ship and at sea.

Upon arrival at the SEK El Castillo campus, the daily schedule of students will change: after classes, they will visit the gym, play on the sports fields, spend time together in evening group activities.

The 50-meter schooner Cervantes Saavedra has many amenities that make traveling in the Mediterranean not only safe, but also comfortable. The living quarters, lounge areas, dining room are available to all students, and the outdoor decks are always visited under the supervision of staff.

The SEK El Castillo campus, located in Madrid, will be the final point of the programs. The school's infrastructure offers students a comfortable residence, modern classrooms and laboratories, gyms and outdoor sports grounds, as well as a large area for walking, relaxing and communicating with classmates.

Formentera – Tall-Ship Camp summer courses usually take place in June-July. The duration of the programs is two weeks, but if necessary, the student can spend one week in the camp.

Many services are already included in the price: accommodation and meals, comprehensive insurance, educational and other resources necessary for the course, round-the-clock support for teachers, a graduation certificate, and others. Individual needs, health insurance, pocket money will require additional costs.

The registration procedure for the short-term Formentera – Tall-Ship Camp courses consists of several stages:

• Selection of the program, clarification of the dates and conditions of admission, availability of vacancies,
• Submission of the application, required documents,
• Receiving an official invitation from the Admissions Committee,
• Entering the cost of the course to book a place,
• Arrival at the meeting point and start of education.

Admission of new students is possible only if there are free places in groups4 It is important for the applicant to submit all the required documents, otherwise the application will not be considered.

In addition to unforgettable impressions, new knowledge and applied skills, students of summer programs receive a graduation certificate: a document confirming that the student has been educated, listened to lectures and received skills that allow him to advance further along the academic path.

Prospective students arriving from abroad must provide a package of personal documents: a passport, a visa or a residence permit, health insurance. Children need to meet the age criteria of the course, take things with them for a comfortable stay on the ship and on the school campus:

• Comfortable clothes for warm and cool weather,
• Swimsuit, flip-flops and towel,
• Personal makeup bag with sunscreen,
• Sports shoes: outdoor and hiking sneakers,
• A small backpack for walking,
• A small first aid kit with personal first aid supplies.

Discounts apply to the summer courses of the camp according to the following criteria:

• 7.5% for pupils and graduates of SEK schools,
• 10% — if you register before January 31,
• 5% — if you register before April 30.
