The branch was established in 2001 in the city of Sayanogorsk.

The learning process includes a course of lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory classes, educational and pre-diploma practice.

The educational process is organized in the following departments:

• Hydraulic structures and hydraulic machines,
• Hydropower, hydroelectric power plants, electric power systems and electrical networks,
• Fundamental training.

Articles and other results of the research activities of the branch are published in such scientific journals as:

• "Power plants",
• "Energy",
• "Journal of the Siberian Federal University. Engineering and Technology".

The branch is located on the basis of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station, which gives constant practice to students.

For nonresident full-time students, the university provides two dormitories with a capacity of 270 residents.

For meals for students and staff, the university has a canteen for 60 seats.

To involve students in social and scientific activities, the university organizes and takes part in the following events:

The educational process takes place in three educational buildings equipped with classrooms for lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory work. The classrooms are equipped with modern technology: screens, projectors, computers and acoustic systems.

Students have free access to a scientific library with a reading room.

For sports, the branch provides a sports pavilion "House of Physical Education".

In the branch, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each of them, an examination session is held, after passing the students, they are given vacations (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

For admission to the branch, you must provide:

• Proof of use of the right to admission within a special quota,
• Confirmation of individual achievements, the results of which are taken into account at admission,
• Proof of disability or disability,
• 2 photos 3x4.

The necessary package of documents is provided to the university:

At the moment, about 400 students are studying at the branch.

Upon completion of training at the Sayano-Shushensky branch, students become qualified specialists in the field of hydraulics, can work on the basis of hydroelectric power plants in Russia.

For admission to bachelor's and specialist's educational programs, an applicant must:

• Completed education not lower than secondary general,
• Points received for the exam are not lower than:
  • Mathematics — 39,
  • Physics — 40,
  • Informatics and ICT — 42,
  • Russian language — 45.

For admission to master's programs, you must:

• Completed higher education,
• Successful completion of the entrance examinations of the university with scores not lower than the threshold set by the university itself.
