On December 28, 1951 , the Decree on the establishment was signed, and a month later, on January 29, 1952, the educational institution began its activities.

The learning process includes a course of lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory classes, introductory, industrial and pre-diploma practice.

For nonresident full-time students, RGRTU provides six dormitories for 2223 places in total. The cost of living per month consists of utility bills and fees for the use of residential premises and is up to 1807 rubles.

For the organization of meals for students and staff, it has a canteen and 4 buffets for 288 seats.

To involve students in social and scientific activities, the university organizes and participates in the following events:

Students are given free access to 2 scientific libraries and the RSSK library for 238 seats.

For sports, RGRTU has prepared:

At RGRTU, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each, an examination session is held, after which students are given a vacation (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

• state academic students (and enhanced),
• state social (and enhanced),
• state graduate students,
• scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation and scholarships of the Government of the Russian Federation,
• nominal (named after P.V. Poshekhonov, etc.),
• students appointed by legal entities or individuals, including those who sent them to study,
• additional students who have entered into an agreement on education under the military program and at the military center at the RGRTU.
