Accommodation, meals, prices
On the territory there are 4 buffets for 130 seats in total.
For nonresident students, GITIS provides a hostel where 350 people can live at the same time. Students are accommodated in rooms of 3 people. On each floor there is a bathroom, shower and kitchen, residents can use the gym, dance and rehearsal rooms, classrooms and a library. The territory of the whole building is equipped with wireless Internet.

Facilities and equipment at Russian Institute of Theatre Arts — GITIS
The educational process at the Institute is carried out at four facilities owned by GITIS:
- Main Academic Building;
- Taganka Educational Building;
- Educational Theatre;
- Educational and theatrical complex.
The total area of educational buildings is more than 28,000 square meters. m All facilities are equipped with access control systems, video surveillance, ventilation, air conditioning and fire safety system complexes.
Classrooms intended for lectures are equipped with computer equipment with special programs (graphic, text and video editors), photo and video equipment. There are rooms for educational theatrical classes, equipped with cubes, screens, light and sound equipment, musical acoustic systems with audio speakers and musical instruments. Also, students are provided with dance and ballet halls equipped with ballet machines, mirrors, acrobatic mats and musical acoustic systems.
At GITIS, students have access to a library with a reading room, a music library.

In GITIS, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each of them, an examination session is held, after which students are given holidays (in winter in January, in summer - in July and August).

When entering the institute, the applicant must provide the following list of documents:

In 2022, more than 430 people from 65 subjects of the Russian Federation entered the institute, 25 people were foreign citizens. 195 students managed to pass on a budgetary basis. It is important to note that this year there was a very high competition – 450 people per place.

According to data provided by GITIS, the number of employed graduates in 2021 exceeds 90%.
An agreement was signed between GITIS and the Moscow Art Theatre named after M. Gorky on the implementation of joint cultural and educational projects and a program for the employment of graduates. After graduating from GITIS, students can work in the relevant profession in the field of theater and cinema.
Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol
For admission to the educational programs of the bachelor's degree in specialization, the applicant must:
- Completed education not lower than secondary general;
- Use scores not lower:
- Russian language — 36;
- Literature — 32.
- Successful passing of entrance examinations, for which the type and scores of the institute are set independently.
For admission to master's programs it is necessary:
- Completed higher education;
- Successful completion of the following entrance tests with scores not lower:
- Oral interview: 50;
- Written professional exam – 50.
For admission to postgraduate programs it is necessary:
- Completed higher education;
- Successful completion of entrance examinations with the following minimum scores:
- Specialty "Theatrical Art" – 3
- In philosophy, 3;
- In a foreign language — 3.
