The university was founded in 1957 in the city of Ussuriysk.

The learning process includes a course of lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory classes, educational and pre-diploma practice.

The educational process is based on the functioning of institutions:

• Engineering and technological;
• Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine;
• Land management and agricultural technologies;
• Forestry and forest park management;
• Advanced education and additional professional education.

The university conducts research work, which sets itself the following tasks:

• Coordination of scientific research in the educational and industrial divisions of the Academy,
• Creation of research teams and groups of scientific and pedagogical workers of the Academy to carry out thematic tasks of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the Department of Agriculture and Food of Primorsky Krai, local governments, as well as agricultural enterprises of various forms of ownership,
• Organization of scientific and technical conferences, Olympiads, competitions and other events that contribute to public coverage of the results of scientific research, creative communication and exchange of experience between students, graduate students and scientists,
• Implementation of educational activities for programs for scientific and pedagogical personnel in graduate school,
• Creation of conditions for the development of innovative high-tech technologies in the field of production and processing of agricultural products, assessment of their investment attractiveness, as well as sales to agricultural producers in the Far East.

Highly qualified scientists of the Far East of the Russian Academy of Sciences and other scientific formations that are part of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences take part in the educational process. Cooperation is also underway with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, the United States and European countries.

The university provides 3 dormitories for nonresident full-time students. The cost of living per month ranges from 850 to 1300 rubles. 

For catering, the university has 2 buffets for 260 seats and a dining room with 340 seats.

To involve students in social and scientific activities, the university organizes and takes part in the following events:

• Russian-Chinese methodological seminar on teaching students the basics of surgery;
• Annual campaign "Cedar Day";
• Far Eastern volleyball tournament "Shmakovskaya Spring";
• Primorsky Krai Championship in classic powerlifting;
• Concert "The Light of Love is Not Extinguished by War";

• Round table "Faithful sons of the Fatherland";
• Lesson of courage "Heroes of Russia";
• Competitions in sports ornithology;
• All-Russian competition for the best scientific work.

The education process is carried out on the basis of two buildings equipped with classrooms for lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory work. The classrooms are equipped with modern technology: projectors, screens, computers and electronic whiteboards.

The university provides free access to two educational and scientific libraries of the university with reading rooms for 129 seats in total.

For sports, the university has a gym, a sports arena and a wrestling hall.

At PSAA, the learning process is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each of them, an examination session is held, after passing the students, they are given vacations (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

When studying at the university students undertake the following additional expenses:

For admission to the university, applicants must provide:

• Identity card, citizenship;
• State-recognized certificate of education and qualifications;
• Proof of use of the right to admission within a special quota;
• Confirmation of individual achievements, the results of which are taken into account when admitting;
• Confirmation of registration in the system of individual (personalized) accounting (if any).

The necessary package of documents is provided to the university:

  • Russian language — 36;
  • Social Studies — 42;

  • Biology — 36;
  • Geography — 37.

For admission to master's programs, you must:

• Completed higher education;
• Successful completion of university entrance examinations with scores of at least 45.
