The Oryol State Institute of Culture is a unique creative university in the region. Today, the OGIK is considered one of the major centers of artistic, creative, cultural and educational activities in the Central Federal District of the country.

The implementation of the educational program at the OGIK provides for the following formats: lectures, practical and seminar classes, extracurricular activities.

On the basis of the OGIK, conferences of the all-Russian and international levels are organized, monographs, scientific journals and collections are published, scientific projects are developed for participation in grant programs.

• The OGIK has the only search team "Fakel" among the universities of culture and art. The squad was founded in 2001.
• In 2022, OGIK was awarded the medal of the Oryol region "For labor success".

Students from remote areas of the region and other regions are allocated a place in the OGIK dormitory. The total number of seats is 750. The dormitory building is located on the territory of the university: conditions have been created here for comfortable living of students and listeners. The rooms are home to 2-3 people, equipped with common kitchens, showers, bathroom. In addition, a medical center is organized in the hostel. The dormitory building is guarded, the entrance is by the access system.

In the main building of the Institute there is a dining room with a dining room.

At OGIK, the academic year begins in the first half of September and is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. Classes are held according to the schedule of a six-day working week. The beginning of classes is in accordance with the schedule of study groups.

At the end of each semester, an examination session is held. Students are provided with vacation weekends: winter (January) and summer (July-August).

Acceptance of documents for full-time education in the OGIK begins on May 15 of the current year, ending on July 14. Dates of introductory, creative and professional examinations: from July 10 to July 25 of the current year.
