North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov (NZMU named after I.I. Mechnikov) is a state institution of medical profile. The university was founded in 2011 on the basis of the merger of two higher medical institutions. Both founders of NWSMU were discovered in the 1900s.
The institution currently consists of seven faculties:

- Hostel near the Alexander Nevsky Bridge, consisting of five floors. The building is equipped with 78 rooms for 188 people, accommodation of different comfort is organized: suite, junior suite, blocks, standard.
The residential buildings are equipped with common sports halls, recreation areas, laundry facilities. In some dormitories on the ground floors there are canteens, cafes, medical centers. The buildings are under round-the-clock security, the access regime is observed.
