The school has a rich history. Founded in the late 1860s by Admiral Benedict Marwood Kelly, the school was targeted at the sons of naval officers and other honorary gentlemen. The school flourished: every year its reputation grew, the number of its students grew. A century later, the school became one of the most famous private Victorian schools. High school students are offered campus accommodation, in excellent conditions with all the necessary equipment. More than 200 people live in the school residence. On campus there are 5 hostels, whose staff provides students around the clock support. The guys are placed in rooms for 2-6 people. Pupils of elementary grades live with their older comrades, and in graduation classes they are settled according to their wishes.
Mount Kelly is an educational institution with a vibrant life: from Monday to Friday, students will have academic lessons and a wide range of clubs and communities of interest.
The school day starts at 8:15 with registration, followed by lessons or a visit to the chapel. One lesson lasts 55 minutes, between classes is set a 5-minute break. At lunch, students will have a break from 12:45 to 14:00 - at this time, students visit communities and clubs. Further students attend classes on schedule. The school day ends at 16: 00-16: 30, followed by sports training, games, electives in music and theater school.

The school accepts foreign students (Year 3-Year 11) under standard conditions. Pupils and their parents are invited to visit the school and meet the teachers. Applicants undergo an interview with a representative of the school on Skype or in person, and starting with Year 5, all students pass the entrance tests upon admission. Parents of foreign students solve the issue of guardianship and pay the school deposit.
