Nursery

  • Age of students – 2-5 years;
  • Duration of studying – 3 years;
  • The language of instruction is English.

The kindergarten program is focused on the development of skills and talents of each child, the formation of his personality, concentration on health and well-being. The program is based on a range of interdisciplinary topics, including expressive and visual arts, science, technology, and the world around us. The formula for success is based on a mix of classroom and outdoor activities, a well-thought-out program for the transition to primary school.

The course also includes music and physical education classes: this is how children acquire useful habits and skills, make friends, and learn to love learning. Teachers and educators help to feel safe, show a real interest in it, which has a positive impact on the child's personality, self-esteem and self-confidence.

The most important element of learning at this stage is the game; It is easiest for children to learn new things, ask questions and explore the world with the help of their own imagination – which is why kindergarten gives enough time to play.

Elementary school is the most important stage in a child's life, and Morrison Academy does everything to provide its pets with the best possible starting conditions. A key aspect of teaching at this stage is the active participation of students in the learning process, cooperation, and the use of curiosity and inquisitiveness. Teachers help children conduct their first own research, solve the problems they face, and develop a habit of learning.

The curriculum is based on the Scottish school curriculum, but the status of an independent school allows you to add original components to the program. Compact classrooms allow teachers to take into account the individual needs of students, spending enough time with each to learn their strengths and weaknesses, adapting the program to the needs of each of their wards.

From the first to the third grade, the priority is to develop literacy skills; Particular attention is paid to phonetics and general vocabulary, writing and reading classes serve as an opportunity to apply the acquired knowledge in practice. Also, children learn the basics of arithmetic, get a basic understanding of the world around them, learn Scottish, as well as one or more European languages to choose from.

The academy uses a thematic interdisciplinary approach, and the topic can be anything from space to toys, from the history of the Middle Ages to popular fairy tales. In primary school, basic subjects are taught by primary school teachers, while specialized subjects are taught by children under the guidance of secondary school teachers, in excellently equipped laboratories and art studios.

In the 1st and 2nd grades of high school, the key role is given to the development of skills and the acquisition of life experiences necessary for success. Compulsory subjects include English and Mathematics, one science and one modern European language and a wide range of extracurricular activities, camps, excursions and trips.

At the S3 and S4 stages, students choose five courses for S5 and 3-4 for S6 from a wide range of subjects: all this together leads to high results in state exams at the National 4 or National 5 levels.

S6 is complemented by several extracurricular programs, such as the Academy of Entrepreneurship and the unique "Learning for Life" program, designed to give students additional practical skills that will be useful in real life outside of school, at university or at work.

Along with the academic program, students study the basics of philosophy, business and entrepreneurship, and cooking. Every teenager has the opportunity to volunteer and realize themselves in the public sphere.

Description of Morrison's Academy

  • Founded in: 1860,
  • Location: Crieff, Perthshire, United Kingdom,
  • Age of students: 3+,
  • Number of students: ~500,
  • Language of instruction: English,
  • Type of studying: day school.

Morrison Academy is an independent co-educational day school located in Crieff, in the Scottish county of Perthshire. It is closely associated with the name of the builder and architect Thomas Morrison, who engaged in the construction of the New Town in Edinburgh. Leaving no heirs, Morrison bequeathed his fortune to establish institutions in central Scotland to share knowledge among young people. The search for a suitable site took almost 40 years, only in 1860 the school recruited the first class of boys (a year later girls joined them).

From the very beginning, the spirit of philanthropy and charity hovered over Morrison's Academy. Graduates made significant efforts to expand the school. For example, James Gardiner paid for the reconstruction of the Memorial Hall, dedicating it to the memory of the school's graduates who died during the First and Second World Wars; Alan Parker purchased astronomical instruments and a chemical laboratory, and John Smith donated £70,000 (~£3.5 million at today's dollars) in 1937 to modernise the campus and create a fund to support gifted Morrisons.

Until the beginning of the noughties, the school was a boarding school, but then it was reorganized into a day school and freed from the care of the Roman Catholic Church. Morrison's Academy now has more than 500 pupils and 125 teachers, making it one of the largest private schools in central Scotland.

Educational process

The care and well-being of students is a priority for all educational activities of Morrison's Academy, here the pastoral care system is highly developed - teachers take care of each child, providing personal conditions for development. Morrison's has a support department that provides academic support: opportunities for additional subject classes, mentoring, personal tutoring. The Elementary Education Unit has an Nurturing Educator who can arrange both one-on-one sessions and small support groups for specific students who need additional academic assistance.

Teachers run a special program on health and well-being "Building Resilience" - it is aimed at ensuring that children master the skills, allowing them to cope with difficult situations related to their mental health, emotional well-being, and learn to overcome difficulties that arise in their lives. In Learning for Life lessons, primary and secondary school students learn about emotions, resilience, discussion of things, and a positive attitude.

Faculties and colleges

Morrison's has an educational process from preschool groups to graduating classes for students from 2 to 18 years old.
