Lyceum No. 1511 at MEPhI

The Lyceum was founded in 1982 as school # 542. MEPhI and its teachers brought to the school a new unusual base, well-equipped chemical and physical laboratories, a computing center (a mini-computer with 15 displays - this was atypical for a secondary school in 1982), new technologies, teaching aids, a high level of knowledge and requirements. University Lyceum No. 1511 is part of the MEPhI Pre-University and offers a strong curriculum for gifted students, the latest equipment, work with the best teachers, a university campus atmosphere and a variety of extracurricular programs.

The lyceum provides two meals a day for students:

• Breakfast - 09.45-10.05
• Lunch (2 shifts) - 12.40-13.35, 13.40-14.35.

Extracurricular educational work in the Lyceum is based on the specifics of the Lyceum's work (only grades 9-11), based on traditions, some of which have been living since the founding of the school.

The system of additional education includes several areas.

For early preparation for scientific activities in the Lyceum, the "Scientific Society of Students" (NOU) was created with different directions:

• Experimental Physics (with classes at the relevant departments of MEPhI)
• Theoretical physics
• Mathematics
• Programming
• Experimental chemistry
• Linguistics
• Economic and military history of Russia.

The lyceum has a variety of circles and sections, in particular, an aesthetic center where you can engage in woodcarving, burning, plate painting, paper-rolling (quilling). Works participate in competitions.

Tourist rallies, Open Days, Mothers Day are held, a choir, a theater group and a dance studio "Sante" work.

The Center for Aesthetic Development and the creative workshop of decorative and applied arts are successfully operating.

• The mission of the lyceum is to provide graduates with high-quality mathematical and natural science education as the basis for successful education at NRNU MEPhI, further research activities, work in the field of nuclear and other high technologies.
• The lyceum team strives to create the richest sphere of opportunities around the teenager.
• University Lyceum No. 1511 is included in the list of schools participating in the network of atomic classes and school technoparks operating within the framework of the Rosatom School project.

The laboratories of the school are equipped with modern industrial and educational equipment, with the help of which students develop and manufacture prototypes of mechanical and electronic devices, architectural models, visual aids as part of the design activities carried out at the lyceum. The laboratory allows for laboratory work and workshops, in which students can become familiar with modern industrial management and design methods in theory and practice. Lyceum students can use the information resources available at the NRNU MEPhI library.

Classes begin at 9.00.

Schoolchildren study 6 days a week, 6 lessons are held per day.

Graduates of the 6th grade who have moved to the 7th grade, interested in mathematics, physics and programming / participants in specialized olympiads in these subjects, planning to enter specialized physics and mathematics lyceums in a year (for example, the University Lyceum 1511 of the NRNU MEPhI Pre-University), the school invites to introductory lessons, which are conducted in a distance format (Zoom) by teachers and the administration of the lyceum.
