Krasnoyarsk State Medical University named after Professor V.F. Voino-Yasenetsky (KrasSMU) is one of the largest medical institutions of higher education in Siberia and the Far East of Russia.

In 1942, the Krasnoyarsk State Medical Institute was founded on the basis of several universities from the fields of dentistry, pediatrics, and general medical practice. During the war years, the discipline was taught by Professor, Surgeon V.F. Voyno-Yasenetsky, in whose honor the existing institution is named. The first graduation of the institute consisted of 51 doctors.

At the moment, krasSMU consists of several specialized faculties:

  • Postgraduate education.

At the university there is a pharmaceutical college, where students can get secondary vocational education.

Now about 4,000 bachelors, specialists, residents and graduate students study at the university. The teaching staff includes more than 730 teachers of various fields of medicine.

Students of the institution are accommodated in six dormitories. First of all, non-resident and foreign pupils, full-time students, then graduate students, correspondence students for the duration of the session, students of preparatory programs are settled in residential buildings.

Every year, KrasSMU organizes about ten international conferences in the field of innovations in medicine: the International Congress on Respiratory Support, the Siberian Congress of Physiologists, the International Congress in the Field of Neurosciences, etc.

More than half of the university's students take part in sports, scientific or creative teams. The main student associations are:

Participants of vocal, solo groups have received awards of regional festivals many times, representing the university at all-Russian competitions. Sports basketball team of KrasSMU is the champion of Krasnoyarsk, the owner of the Cup of Siberia.
