Knowledge Gate International School, KGIS, has been operating in Muscat since 2012. The school was founded in the Al Hail district — one of the residential areas in the northwestern part of Muscat, originally developed as an independent international school under local management, and in 2019 joined the Inspired Education Group — a large international network of private schools headquartered in London. After joining the network, the school updated its brand, expanded its academic programs, and began a phased modernization of the campus and infrastructure.

KGIS operates as a full-cycle school. The foundation is the British educational model, supplemented by international examination programs and compulsory subjects of the Omani state standard, including Arabic language, Islamic education, and social studies. In the upper grades, students choose one of two academic tracks: A-Level or the bilingual Omani General Education Diploma.

KGIS educates both Omani citizens and expatriates. The KGIS educational model combines the British academic system with the requirements of the Omani curriculum and is oriented toward an international environment.

KGIS has a well-thought-out student support system that includes tutors, consultations with teachers, regular meetings with parents, and programs related to the emotional well-being and adaptation of children. For feedback, the school uses progress reports, academic meetings, and digital platforms including Google Classroom. Students with additional educational needs and children learning English as an additional language receive support from specialist professionals and learning support educators.

• In 2023, the school underwent a British Schools Overseas inspection: inspectors confirmed KGIS's compliance with British standards for overseas education and noted a strong student support system, updated infrastructure, and a wide range of academic and creative programs.
• Based on A-Level 2024 results, 6% of all grades were at A* level, 13% — in the A*–A range, 44% — in A*–B, and 75% — in A*–C. For the Oman Bilingual GED program, the result in 2023 was 100%.
• KGIS is a member of British Schools in the Middle East and holds the Council of British International Schools Patron’s Accreditation, received in March 2022. The BSO report separately noted that the school offers subjects rarely found in schools in Oman: drama, Spanish, and psychology.
• KGIS has a black-box drama studio — a flexible theatrical space for drama classes, productions, and public speaking work.

The campus is located in the Al Hail district of Muscat, in a dense urban environment, so a well-thought-out drop-off and pick-up system has been organized for parents' convenience: morning traffic follows a one-way scheme, separate entrances are provided for different age groups, and a parent parking area is located near the campus.

Meals are provided through the school cafeteria: students are offered balanced lunches with vegetables, fruits, and hot dishes. When necessary, KGIS accommodates food allergies and special dietary requirements if parents notify the school in advance.

Extracurricular life is built around sport, arts, languages, leadership, and community projects. Younger pupils can take part in music, dance, drama, swimming, sports, cookery, and creative arts; for middle and senior school, Model United Nations, sports competitions, performing arts classes, and participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award are available.

Dramatic arts hold an important place in school life. Drama classes are available to pupils of all ages — from the pre-school stage to the graduating years. KGIS collaborates with LAMDA — London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, one of the most renowned British organisations in the field of theatre and speech education: as a result, pupils can prepare for external qualifications in spoken English, dramatic art, acting, and public speaking. These examinations help develop confidence, communication skills, and performance interaction, and can be used as an additional academic achievement when applying to schools and universities abroad.

Students enjoy a vibrant community life: KGIS has a student council, and charitable initiatives and social projects are encouraged. Students take part in environmental campaigns, help organise Eid gift hampers for local workers, and participate in school Iftar evenings during Ramadan. Senior students have access to international exchanges and trips, as well as summer programmes within the Inspired network.

Students have access to classrooms, a library, science laboratories, computer rooms, music and art rooms, a drama studio, sports grounds, and a swimming pool. Separate Early Learning Centre zones, an early development garden, and a Jungle Gym play area have been set up for preschoolers. The British Schools Overseas report also mentions an updated library, a new early learning zone, a black-box drama studio, and modernized sports and play areas.

KGIS actively uses digital technologies in the educational process. The facilities are adapted to climatic conditions: classrooms are well-lit, air-conditioned, and have quality soundproofing. The campus has a medical room and a lift accessible to students, staff, and visitors who require a barrier-free environment.

The KGIS academic year is divided into three trimesters: autumn, winter, and spring. The school follows the official calendar of public holidays and days off of the Sultanate of Oman.

• copy of the parent's passport and resident card, if available,
• copy of the child's passport,
• a recent passport-format photograph,
• the latest school report (if available),
• a letter from the previous school confirming no outstanding fees (if available).

After submitting the application, KGIS conducts testing in English, mathematics, and verbal reasoning, after which the child attends an interview or assessment day. If successful, the child receives an offer of admission and a start date.

KGIS graduates enter universities in Oman and other countries. In upper school, two pathways are available: A-Level and the Omani bilingual diploma.

In upper school, students receive systematic support in academic and career planning. Counselors help select A-Level subjects or the Oman Bilingual GED depending on future specialization and university requirements. The work begins before the graduating year: students are explained the differences between the British, American, and regional higher education systems, helped to assess their strengths, and guided in choosing the appropriate track.

Within Inspired Education Group, the partner services Arete Education Consulting and The Classroom Door are available: through them, students receive guidance on preparing applications to universities in the UK, USA, Canada, and other countries. Support includes assistance with selecting universities, compiling applications and writing personal statements, organizing portfolios, and clarifying UCAS requirements and the admissions processes of American universities.

KGIS accepts applications from local and international families throughout the academic year, subject to availability.

• For admission to the pre-school group, the child must understand English at an age-appropriate level, be toilet-trained, and attend an assessment session.
• For admission to Grades 1–5, KGIS administers a Cognitive Ability Test, assesses the child's age-appropriate English language level, requests a recommendation from the previous school, and invites the candidate for a short interview.
• For Grades 6–10, a separate English language test is additionally administered. Applications to Grade 10 are considered by the school on an individual basis.
• For admission to Grade 11, the candidate takes a Cognitive Ability Test, an English language test, and an interview, and provides a positive recommendation from their previous school. The school expects a minimum of five GCSE results at grade A*–C or 9–4, or equivalent grades, including no lower than C or 4 in English and Mathematics; some A-Level subjects have additional academic requirements. Applications to Grade 12 are considered on an individual basis.

KGIS has two scholarship programs: Nsouli Scholars Programme and KGIS Elite Scholarships.

• Nsouli Scholars Programme — a scholarship program by Inspired Education Group for talented students. It covers tuition at schools in the Inspired network.
• KGIS Elite Scholarships — a school program for students with high academic results and strong swimmers. The academic scholarship is intended for motivated and academically successful children, while the sports scholarship is for swimmers with a confirmed level of training and a willingness to represent KGIS in competitions.

The scholarship provides a tuition discount and is reviewed annually upon maintaining high results: candidates must sustain academic or athletic performance, uphold the school's values, and pass selection through an application, portfolio, or interview.
