Summer French course for children and teenagers

  • Age of students — from 10 to 16 years.

You can study French on the IH Nice campus in several formats: intensive and super intensive. Intensive stipulates 20 weekly lessons in small groups, and the most effective and accelerated course is superintensive — 26 academic classes per week. Lessons are held from 9:00 to 12:00, and additional classes on the accelerated program complement the schedule from 13:00 to 15:15.

The basics of linguistics are studied in the classroom: the rules of reading and writing, grammar and vocabulary, spoken language and listening comprehension. The curriculum has a lot more practice than theory, so students learn the material faster and immediately use the knowledge they have gained.

Preparation for the DALF/DELF

The DELF is one of the most recognized French language diplomas  in the world. Obtaining a DELF diploma is an advantage when it comes to working for a French company or studying at a university.

The DELF preparation course consists of group lessons in General French in the mornings, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and two individual lessons in the afternoon dedicated exclusively to the DELF, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This format will improve the level of general French and focus on the exam.  Some of the teachers are members of the DELF jury and are therefore highly qualified to prepare students for the exam.

The curriculum includes 24 lessons per week and individual preparation alone with the teacher.

Description of IH Nice Language School and Kids Camp

  • Location: Nice, France,
  • Year of foundation: 1985,
  • Number of students: about 940,
  • Language of instruction: French,
  • Type of study: mixed.

IH Nice is a language school for children from 10 to 16 years old, providing French language programs. It is located in one of the most beautiful places in France and attracts students from all over the world year after year: in 2022 alone, it taught about 942 international students.

The school was founded by the IHWO International House World Organization in 1985: IHWO itself, founded in 1953 in Spain, is today considered one of the oldest, most popular and most prestigious educational networks in the world. For example, it was at IHWO that teachers of English as a foreign language were first prepared: today, almost half of the world's CELTA certificate holders are IHWO graduates.

The strength of the school is its communicative approach, constant interaction with the teacher and students among themselves. It is complemented by a strong methodological base and professional teachers, functional and lexical teaching methods — today this learning format is successfully used in more than 52 countries, in 160 IHWO schools, where students can learn a wide variety of languages: English, German, Russian, Arabic and others.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students are offered several options to choose the most comfortable accommodation for the duration of their studies in France: accommodation in a host family, residence, hotels and apartments.

1. Staying with a host family is the best way to discover French culture and practice the French language. All the host families are carefully checked to ensure that the children are well taken care of. There are many different families working with the school: single parents with or without children, couples. Some families are willing to accept only one student, while others are willing to accept several, which makes the experience of living more diverse. Students are accommodated in single or double rooms, weekly laundry and cleaning are included in the price. The child will have his own keys to come and go whenever he wants, but you need to follow the meal schedule and some basic rules. Residents are provided with half—board meals - children will have breakfast and dinner with their family. If there are dietary and medical conditions, students will be provided with an alternative menu. All the host families live in Nice, not far from the school. The house can be reached on foot, by tram or bus within up to 30 minutes.

2. Residences:

  • Lamy Student Residence (Barberis) — mini-studios with private bathrooms, kitchens and living areas. They are rented out for at least 15 weeks and accommodate students over the age of 18. The residential building is located near a school, shopping malls and entertainment complexes, and has a variety of facilities inside: a laundry room, a living room with a TV, an outdoor walking area, and parking for motorcycles,
  • Residence France Riviera/Ex Sun Valley is a seaside residence offering rooms with showers and kitchens. The building offers free Wi-Fi, laundry services and a 24-hour front desk.,
  • Segurane Residence (July and August) is a summer residential complex with fully furnished studios: they are designed for one tenant and equipped with a small kitchen, bedroom and shower room. The residence is a 15-minute drive from the school's campus.

3. Adagio Acropolis is a new format hotel with a kitchenette in each room. It is located 20 minutes from the training area, one minute from public transport stops. Students are offered single and double rooms with full equipment, free Wi-Fi and necessary services: laundry, security and 24-hour service.

The school staff can also offer rooms in two-, three-, and four-star hotels that cooperate with the institution.
