Summer Course: Arsenal Football + English

The program, created in collaboration with the world-renowned Arsenal football academy, offers students a busy schedule with the opportunity to improve not only sports skills but also their level of English. Each week's schedule includes:

  • 15 hours of English lessons, where students focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, expand vocabulary,
  • 15 hours of sports training, during which pupils refine both physical skills and learn about sports nutrition, psychology, medicine,
  • Daily recreational activities on campus,
  • Excursions with visits to attractions, thematic places on weekends.

The basis of the sports aspect of the program is a model focused on four key areas: effective teamwork, the ability to achieve goals, a desire to learn, and the development of a sporting mentality. This approach has been used by the club's academy for over 30 years, guaranteeing effective improvement of playing skills and acquisition of valuable life skills.

All training sessions are conducted under the guidance of qualified football club coaches, each of whom has a UEFA certificate and many years of experience working with young athletes. Students interested in the goalkeeper position attend daily training sessions to refine the key skills of this role. The training program covers techniques such as footwork and ball control, ball control, support and passes, positioning and others. Part of the training process takes place together with other students, so all pupils learn coordinated teamwork on the field.

During participation in the summer program, students are in an atmosphere of comprehensive support from native English teachers, professional coaches and employees of the educational center. Using an individual approach to each student, employees achieve step-by-step and effective development of important abilities, help in achieving goals and planning further steps on the path to success both in learning English and in football.

Haileybury School Summer Camp — an international seasonal institution offering a program of English language learning and football training. Boys aged 9-15 with almost any level of English proficiency are accepted for study — from A2 to C1.

The summer program will be a great opportunity to improve both language and sports skills — the course was created in cooperation with Arsenal Football Development, which provides pupils with everything they need to succeed: from modern and diverse infrastructure for learning and training to individual consultations, mentoring by professionals and current athletes. Both English lessons and sports activities are adapted to the level of each group.

Located in the countryside near London, Haileybury School has exceptional sports facilities that are often rented by professional football academies of the Premier League. Another distinctive feature of the educational territory is the modern equipment of classrooms, numerous venues for creative, entertainment and cultural events. Focusing on the well-being and safety of pupils, Haileybury Summer Camp comprehensively cares for each ward from arrival on campus to departure home.

Accommodation, meals, prices

During the summer program, students are accommodated in comfortable Haileybury School residences. Educators and staff live in neighboring rooms. Living spaces for students are single or double occupancy, with some rooms prepared to accommodate 4-8 younger students. Bathrooms, common areas, and other residence facilities are shared.

While living in the residence, students receive three meals a day. Dishes are prepared from a varied menu of British and international cuisine and served in the historic dining hall at set times. Students always have a choice of two hot dishes for lunch and dinner, and a salad bar is available throughout the day.

Students with dietary restrictions can apply for an alternative menu.

The summer program takes place on the Haileybury School campus, located on 500 acres of countryside in North London. The educational area combines the traditions of a British boarding school and a dynamic, modern environment for the comprehensive development of students, and boasts first-class sports facilities:

  • Full-size grass football fields,
  • A sports complex with game halls, gyms,
  • Two artificial turf football fields with lighting.

In addition to the sports facilities, the school equipment includes a language center with classrooms, each of which has an interactive whiteboard and projector, audio and video equipment. Students also have access to a large dining room, residences, theater studios and a performance hall.

The campus is located north of the prestigious Arsenal Football Club academy, 20 miles from central London and international airports: Heathrow and «Eurostar St Pancras» — a 50-minute drive, Gatwick — a 1 hour 15 minute drive.

Admission dates and extra charges

The program takes place in July, has a minimum of three start dates and flexible study duration: from one to three weeks. The schedule includes English lessons, daily football training (excluding weekends) — on Saturdays and Sundays students go on excursions.

The tuition fee includes expenses for services such as:

  • Full academic and sports program,
  • Accommodation, three meals a day,
  • Airport transfer,
  • Graduation certificate,
  • All campus events,
  • Travel insurance,
  • Weekend excursions if the student checks into the camp for 2+ weeks.

Additionally, it is necessary to pay deposits and cover personal expenses of the student.

Enrolment process

Applicants need to fill out a registration form, after which Haileybury Summer Camp staff will help with completing the missing documents and provide detailed information about the course and arrival on campus. Before starting their studies, students take a language test, based on the results of which they are divided into small groups.

Perspectives

Upon completion of the summer program, students receive personalized reports in English and a graduation certificate: these documents confirm the academic and athletic training completed and the student's achievements, provide information on further opportunities for physical and language skills development, and offer useful recommendations.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

To enroll in the summer football course, applicants must have a foreign passport, visa or residence permit, and insurance. Employees of the educational center assist future students with document оформлением.

An important criterion is considered to be football skills: a student must participate in training for at least one year and know the basic rules. The level of English will not be a mandatory requirement for applicants — the curriculum is adapted to language abilities from A2 to C1.
