Academic Gymnasium No. 56 is the largest state budgetary educational institution of complete general education in the North-West region. Geographically, the school is located in the Petrogradsky district - the historical center of St. Petersburg. Gymnasium 56 has five buildings: two of them are for senior classes, one for preschool education.

Gymnasium No. 56 is a two-time winner of the All-Russian competition "The Best Schools of Russia" under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
